^^exactly. It's just the drivetrain was never made strong enough. The 6 bolt is about beefy as they come and if I ever find one cheap enough then the engine in the Z is getting pulled. While the 7 bolt is kinda like the y series sohc's with their oiling problems. It's a problem but not a life and death reason not to get one if you needed an engine badly.

Tell him his car is an unreliable pile of ----, it leaks oil, MHI turbos are the most retarded design ever, his turbo is far too small, his cast manifold sucks, the motor is a piece of ---- that makes a lower HP number than whatever PSI it's boosting at. I could go on for days.
He's full of ---- about the turbine housings. DSMers are notorious for running bolt of piece of ---- Mitsu housing turbos that don't spool or flow for anything. The valvetrains also aren't anything special. Stock GS-R cams are far more aggresive than all but the most extreme aftermarket 4G63 cams, VTEC ownz joo lyfe. Stock DSM cams are a joke and extremely limiting on power. The valvetrain parts themselves are nothing amazing. It's rocker arms and hydraulic lifters that weren't designed correctly so they tick like ----------ers, nothing impressive at all so I don't know wtf he's refering to.
Main reason they suck when you're trying to make real power...
Mitsubishi went with ultra low compression instead of just tuning them correctly or designing a proper combustion chamber. They made the head ports ENORMOUS to make up for the fact that they flow like ---- (and they still flow like ----). Because of these two reasons I can run 27psi and still be one of the slowest cars on the road while any Honda running that boost is making 700+hp. Thanks Mitsubishi.

I love DSMs but if you don't know what your doing or have a DD, your screwed.
Trying to argue technical info over cars upwards of 17 years old is lame and pointless when it envolves *** clowns like this guy, your just gonna give yourself a head ache. Tell him the only reason he has a turbo car is it came from the factory like that. If you really hate him, egg him on so he spends all his $$ on mods not preventive maintenance , it'll break and he'll be broke before summer ends

Main thing with those cars is maintenance...keep the oil changed and change the timing belt EVERY 60k miles....Those cars get a bad name because the ppl who buy them are impressed with the fact that they are RELATIVELY quick lil cars and so they proceed to beat the ---- out of em until they are a rollin' POS....

Their valvetrain is nothing special, garbage IMO, their redline is limited even on built motors. Pretty much everything AWDstyles mentioned I concur with. Not to mention every homo kid that's seen the first F&F movie thinks he has to get an eclipse to be mad ricer fast, so they get abused with no maintenence.
