Whoops, apparently 400hp/ft-lbs makes your transmission hate life.

Hot dam, thats a nice pile of metal in the tranny.
If those beef-cafe tranny are really only $900ish, Id ------- jump on it.
Regardless of if you keep it, or sell it, another stock unit is going to ---- itself. right?
I like the IC paint scheme.

I was running a 50/50 mix of redline shockproof and GM synchromesh gear oils... I think i'm going to run strictly neo-heavyweight in her from now on instead. suprisingly with these tranny's the oil can have a lot to do with breakage.
And thanks, I love my intercooler

that sucks; my friends 1g awd eclipse's tranny blew on him a while back
come to find out it was a JDM GVR4 transmission so the center diff was just tearing itself up with the different gear ratio's. He is rebuilding it with an eclipse/talon final drive, spool center diff, new(er) rear lsd, new cv's everywhere; and we're going to try to hook up the 4wd selector ---- that the japanese trannies had

Like I said I already have a replacement on the way that I'm using to build a new one myself. Shep doesn't do anything magical or special that I can't do myself with the right info

When Dave cracked open Jeff's transmission, after Jeff peeled off most of 2nd gear, it was a bunch of stock parts. Dave installed the beefy aftermarket steel shift forks and misc 2nd gear parts, transmission feels just like it did before.
I'm nearing 100% that it's fresh synchros + hubs, mated to fresh bearings for the main and counter shafts. I know most notchy shifting on Honduhs is caused by "good" yet slightly out of spec main + counter bearings. If you are just ---- about replacing a bunch of stuff, Shepherd-like results are to be expected.
Good luck with it!

Re: Whoops, apparently 400hp/ft-lbs makes your transmission hate life.
That's the most of it. His transmissions are just really well done rebuilds... with lots of options/upgrades.
You can get the:
evo steel shift forks
double synchro 1-2/3-4
double cone 1-2/3-4
GVR4 1st gear
Large input shaft from the 91's
Bigger/Revised synchros from the 93+'s
Heavy Duty shift rails
4 spider center diff
etc...
none of that stuff is special, it is just that Shep has been doing it forerever and will get the ---- right the first time.
