See how the military is, they tell you to move to Japan but they let you work out how to get there. What a raw deal.

no, how the military does it, is they hire a moving company to come to my house, pack up all of my stuff, then they buy me a plane ticket out of LAX to okinawa. then they give me $1,644.52 (to be exact) to get to LAX and they give me 6 days to do it in, how i spend that money and how i get to LAX is up to me. What im gonna try to do is ask if they will fly me out of chicago, and I pay the difference of what LAX->okinawa is and what chicago->okinawa is. (i think its about $300 per person) and i pocket the rest of the money. they will give me the 1600 reguardless though. not a bad deal at all...

then when i get to japan, they will have someone there waiting on me, the military puts me in a suite motel (which the govt pays for) until they get me a house, while still giving me $900 a month for housing expences. then on top of that, as soon as i get to japan, i get Cost Of Living Alowance, the entire 3 years im there, which I think right now is $1300 a month on top of everything else i already make. that $1300 a month extra flucuates with the yen rate though. I should be making about 3 grand a month, (36,000 a year) with no housing expences (the govt provides me a house over there, its not like here where I have an option to live on base or not) the only housing expence i will have is a phone, internet, and television. so not a bad deal at all...

I dont know whats so exciting about Japan I went last summer for a month and after a week it got SO ------- boring. I dont speak Japanese and you can only look at so many temples and ---- before you want to burn them down so I didnt have much to do. The sushi was bomb as hell though and the Hiroshima nuke museum (whatever its called) was tight, make sure you go there.

thats awsome how did you get them to send you to japan, when and if i reenlist thats where i want go. i would say that it looks like you would be going thru denver, i live in springs. and that you could meet a total stranger with like 2 posts on this forum. but i will be in the feild at the time of your travel.
