This was the second fatwa (declaration of war) written by osama bin laden in 1998, they make it perfectly clear what we need to do to protect outrselves from terrorism.
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/terroris...atwa_1998.html
First, for over seven years the United States has been occupying the lands of Islam in the holiest of places, the Arabian Peninsula, plundering its riches, dictating to its rulers, humiliating its people, terrorizing its neighbors, and turning its bases in the Peninsula into a spearhead through which to fight the neighboring Muslim peoples.
If some people have in the past argued about the fact of the occupation, all the people of the Peninsula have now acknowledged it. The best proof of this is the Americans' continuing aggression against the Iraqi people using the Peninsula as a staging post, even though all its rulers are against their territories being used to that end, but they are helpless.
The ruling to kill the Americans and their allies -- civilians and military -- is an individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it, in order to liberate the al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy mosque [Mecca] from their grip, and in order for their armies to move out of all the lands of Islam, defeated and unable to threaten any Muslim. This is in accordance with the words of Almighty God, "and fight the pagans all together as they fight you all together," and "fight them until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in God."

Re: Who the ---- is Ron paul?
i think its obvious that the war in iraq isn't really getting us anywhere and instead of invading any country that might pose a threat to us in the future, concentrate on ones that actually are a threat. like why the hell are we not in pakistan hunting for osama bin laden, in a country that already has nuclear weapons? instead we are talking about bombing/invading iran because they might have one in ten years.
maybe neither of us are 100% correct but i am sure we could find some middle ground.

Re: Who the ---- is Ron paul?
no hitler took over several countries in western europe and we didn't get involved until he attacked us.
that war was also started because germany got fucked over after ww1 with the versailles treaty and reparations.
EDIT: we didn't get involved until after pearl harbor
pakistan is our allie right now but 20 years ago so was saddam, go figure.
theres no reason we can't monitor irans nuclear program, they have said that they are open to un inspections, but bush won't even talk to them, thats what i am getting at, not that we should never go to war.

remember the war saddam started in kuwait? yea... he started it...
those inspectors are worthless, and yes we can monitor irans nuclear program, up until the day they start a nuclear war with israel or hand off a nuke to some third party that blows it up in the US or in/around one of our interests around the world and denies being involve.
its a complicated world, and im having serious doubts anyone could do it better, or that there is anyother way...
