My old truck and my work truck have that oil change light thing. My work truck has 15k miles on it and if I remember right we've changed the oil 3 times in it so that's about every 5k miles in a 10k pound box van loaded full of tools and wire and ----. :l Quite a few of those miles were made doing 90mph/speed limited drives home after a long day of work out of town. :l Somehow I just don't think their calculations are very accurate.
