Who knows a lot about Fox mustangs? Need advice!
Hey guys, recently I've been getting very tired of driving a gutless B16 CRX around town, especially on the highway. It makes me sick to think that I gave up a perfectly good '89 LX 5.0 hatch for this thing every time I get on the highway. Basically I'm tired of my CRX and I want to go back to a Fox body Mustang.
So that brings me to my next problem, I found one I like that has a pretty good body on it and supposedly has a nice motor...but it's automatic. It's priced right, at $1800 but I'm not sure what to think about it being automatic. I don't like the hood that's on it either.
So if I get this thing I definately want to do an HMT setup on it and convert it to 5spd. This is where I need help, I've been in the Honda world so long and I don't really know ---- about fuel management on these things and I'm kind of in the dark about what kind of transmission to put into it. My last fox body had a T5 transmission in it and reverse would always grind and from time to time I got a 2nd gear grind. I've heard the T5's don't last for ----, especially with a modified motor.
I don't want to keep the car automatic, but I don't want to be changing the transmission every month if I boost it.
Basically I've got two questions:
Is there any other cost effective way to change over to a 5spd without using a T5 transmission?
What kind of fuel management modifications should I make if I decide to boost it? Do I just put a bigger MAF and bigger injectors on there and call it a day or what?
Here's a picture of my old one that I gave up for my CRX.

tremecs are expensive... but def. worth it...
if you are going to take the time effort and money into converting it to a manual.. put a 6 speed in it.... you will be so much happier....... you should be able to get a used t46 for a fairy decent price.....
