Abso---------lutely. I've been with my little company 9 years so I do have seniority, but being non-union means I still have a job and my boss knows what I do for the company. If I were in a union I'd be losing my house and eating Ramen right now. Instead I'm fully employed, bills are paid and it looks like I'm going to make it through these shitty times without having to worry about it.

When times are good, unions are cool. When times get shitty, unions will let your *** go without blinking an eye, regardless of how good you are.

I think everybody should be worrying about it. Unless your in the medical field. (non-cosmetic) ---- rolls down hill and its still up in the upper 1/3rd of the hill.

I think that is EXACTLY the problem. If "EVERYBODY" started to panic that means EVERYBODY stops spending money and that's just going to make things much worse than they need to be. There are still people out there building million dollar homes, buying $75k cars, and going on expensive vacations that aren't effected by this bullshit economy enough to scare them into living in a cave and hanging onto their cash. If we scare those people into this panic mode like everybody else, then we're really fucked. We need people out there spending money, creating business, doing things. One of our big jobs right now is an expansion on a Chevrolet dealership. They aren't selling ---- for cars right now, but they're still expanding with hopes of higher sales in the future and when ---- turns around(and it will)they will be ready. Right now they're getting ---- done for crackhead prices because people are bidding as low as possible to make sure they get the job because they need it.

I think the majority of the problem is mental, created by the media. People hear on the news of all of the bad, horrible ---- and how people are losing everything they have and so much bad bad bad all over the world. It just creates a bad mood and people start to follow it because it's been drilled into their heads. If I were an investor and all I heard about on the news is how bad ---- was and how everything is fucked, I wouldn't be investing in ANYTHING, which starts the cycle of making the situation that much worse.

Sometimes I wish things would get so bad that people stopped buying CD's and watching movies and buying overpriced designer bullshit. I'd love to see celebs fall on their faces and have to go out and get real jobs(if they could find one) making less than 1% of what they were being paid as actors/singers/etc.

It's not a problem if everyone thinks about it - as long as they don't think about it on your level. Not to revisit old wounds but you *do* stress about money to the point we're all surprised you haven't died of ulcers.

The economy sucks, but I know I have security for the next six months. Past that I can do whatever I need to, as someone else put it I'm glad this is happening while I'm young and strong and not when I'm old and don't have the ability to deal with it.
