Ls1's are nice v8's that are widely available and respond extremely well to mods.

you in need of attention?
no one brang your sweet car into this thread.
i don't see STI's putting down 4x the power either. making 4x the power is a lot easier when you make sub 200 to begin with don't you think?
ive been getting about 25 in my camaro

Bah, iron blocks suck. No one wants a boat anchor. I'll take an alum block 350 all day. 900+ hp all motor makes me wet. (speaking in terms of sprint cars)

What makes this thread sad is that, aside from being wrong about GTO trap speeds, Johnny is right. All the Streetfire videos you search for show sub-100 trap speeds on stock STI... magazines say otherwise because they use corrected figures, and the Josh Ross is probably correct about the one at Pacific... but that one is your factory freak with a very good driver who isn't afraid of fragging the homo deficient factory gearbox with a hard launch.
STI clean up on the short track auto-x stuff, and if you modify them are awesome rally rides. 99% of STI will never get a stone chip in their paint and are owned by non-driving homos in Abercrombie or other yuppie wear, so in reality they lose to stock Geo Metros - Steve/Mutant's 93 Metro Convertible sets FTOD frequently in the Highland Auto-x Club, he's a hardcore driving machine. There are teenage kids in stock Civic CXs who turn faster times than the local WRX-swapped 2.5 RS "Subaru is better than everything, I am smarter than you" faglord.
The flat out truth is that pushrod V8 is king dick of the street and strip. Live axles, properly set up, handle better on road racing tracks than cumbersome IRS. They hook infinitely better. They rule. These heavyslut turbo four cylinders with their 25-29% AWD drivetrain loss can have their parking lot superiority - the real men are out on the purpose-built roadways, and they don't much care about parking lot trophies.
For drag racing RWD > FWD > AWD. FWD rules interstate races only because most FWDs weigh a lot less than RWD cars and import kids run the dogshit out of their engines until the point they are unreliable while RWD guys make a modest 500-600 whp in a 3500 lb chassis and are comparatively slow from a roll because they have holeshot from hell... look at how Goforth's CRX strolled past the 600 whp orange Mustang on Pinks@Rockingham... that's a car that's been together for YEARS and turns dead nuts consistent 10.5's the whole time. Good luck to any AWD trying to launch as hard as that Mustang, which is just an older guy's fun streetcar that he throws slicks on while at the track and never worries about anything breaking.
