Try this and report back... especially if you have serious doubts about passing.

Anyone can pass smog very easily, I thought I actually posted this but I'll repeat for the late comers.
If you have to pass a visual, you're on your own. Thats got nothing to do with emissions.

To pass the smog test perform the following steps:

Get the gas tank almost empty, under a 1/4 of a tank

Add two gallons of denatured alcohol from Ace Hardware, Lowes or Home Depot

Proceed directly to smog station and take the test

Recieve pass certificate

Alcohol does not burn hydrocarbons, so you effectively fool the sniffer every time. I've done this on 4 vehicles now, none of which had cats. Well atleast a cat with anything inside it My 240 had over double the stock injector size controlled by a SAFC and I passed easily.

If the car has to be shutoff, you will have a little trouble starting it. It will start mind you, but not on the first crank, it will take 4-5 seconds. This is because the spark energy isn't enough to light off the alcohol mixture. Running the alcohol will not damage your motor or the sensors. Just proceed to the gas station after you pass and fill up with regular.

p.S. Mr. Burns was driving a RHD car... lol!

This can be tested pretty easy.
You can take your car to any smog place and get what's called a Pre-Smog Test. It's a smog test that does not get sent to Sacramento and is real cheap.
I did this when I had to take the green car to the Ref. After the Pre-Smog which was $15, I went straight to the appointment.
I learned about this after failing the first time

Ya I learned up the pre smog test back in the day. The guy wouldnt smog my zc but he said hell if you want to see the #'s no biggie. Most smog places will let this go on. This is some pretty killer info if it really works

my header leaked like a mother and the guy kept saying hes getting REALLY low readings on the screen. he was some kid who couldn't have been over 20 and looked like he was bored out of his mind. He ran it twice and then proceeded to give up because the reading was so low. exhaust leak FTW

i might try that ---- when i get the black SI smogged. Will straight up methonal work? or does it have to be denatured?

It works. Did it once in the CRX after failing pretty nicely.

Good thing IL is now too poor to test pre-OBD2 cars and I never have to see the smog man again

Did it in my obdo b16 civic and it didnt make a single bit of difference, then I tried a can of that guaranteed to pass, burned the whole tank of gas, and bam no pass

my crx obd0 b16 passed no problem a year or so back..


i have to do my car again very soon though.. and there is no way i'm taking off the turbo kit. dont have time for that ----.
i need to know something that will 100% work.
