who has heard of neptune?
here in az everywhere i go i keep hearing about the neptune program. its like everyone is on this guys nuts cause he is local. I was finally able to get my hands on a neptune ecu that was "tune" even by the writer of the program itself. In all honesty i was VERY dissappointed, my uberdata chip with just a stock map that had some fuel pulled feels 10x's better. Anyone had any experiances with neptune?

Re: who has heard of neptune?
I have heard alot of really good things about neptune. The problem is that you cant tune it yourself.

Re: who has heard of neptune?
lol, jeff evans is one of the best honda/acura tuners in the states and neptune is an awesome program, just not available to the public 'yet'. the only way to get 'neptuned' is to get tuned by an authorized dealer.

Re: who has heard of neptune?
how much more can you do to tune a honda that the current free programs can't do?? This is kind of a statement, and kind of a question, because I know theres not much, but I'm curious as to what else there is to do

Jeff Evans did not invent Neptune, he's just a dealer. |
Re: who has heard of neptune?
i know that, a guy named james wrote the software, but the word 'neptune' is really synonomous with jeff evans, although i just saw this guy mentioned he was from az which is where james is from anyways :P neptune is loaded with tons of extra features that most of the programs have nothing close to. there's a reason why a majority of the sfwd/t4 cars run neptune instead of uberdata :P

Re: who has heard of neptune?

Re: who has heard of neptune?
No two motors are the same.

For the 2nd car, I loaded in the previous cars spot-on map, and the A/F's were considerably diff. in high/mid vacuum. Boost was very similar, but in vacuum where driveability is king, they were far enough apart to idle a little funny, and have light-decel lean pops outa the exhaust. From what Ive read about Neptune, it seems to be shaping up to be a solid Honda rom editor. I almost kinda like the idea that it isnt available to the public yet. Having smart people using it in controlled (dyno) conditions means the software author gets fast, accurate feed back and bug reports Im sure. When it does go public, I hope someone I know buys it so I can play with it myself. |

Neptune is by far the most feature rich and proven Honda ECU engine management system at this point. Not to mention it was created soley by one guy. I have the upmost respect for James (HRTuning) and what he has done for the Honda community. When Neptune goes public, you can bet your ass I'll be the 1st one in line to buy... |
Re: who has heard of neptune?
no doubt, i've tuned quite a few cars with near identical (same engine, same turbo, same injectors, same size exhaust etc.) and never had 'magic' results by using a previously tuned map, unfortunately it doesn't work like that, but it is a good starting point.

Are you talking from experience in using the program or just what you heard through internet advertising ;) |
