To Whitey RE: Turbo Two-Strokes...

Hey Whitey,

I THINK the guy I'm looking for is Whitey...anyways, I'd just like to get in touch with the dude who had a turbo, fuel-injected Banshee on this board. I am a two-stroke nut myself (snowmobiles, RZ350, and now TZR250) and since my TZR is in pieces, I got thinking...=)

Anyways, if you could drop me a line at jsbordeleau@hotmail.com, that'd be awesome!

Thanks!

Like I said: "I haven't worked on my Banshee in months. I finally got my fuel pump, fuel filter, MAF sensor and plug but just haven't got around to working on it... "

There's been no real progress becuase I haven't worked on it in a while. I finally got the parts I need but I got discouraged after I discovered I need to convert to MAF and also that I need to modify my fuel rail again (becuase of the pipe I'm running) that was a bitch to make in the first place:

I get alot of PM's and I respond to as many as I can. However, when I get questions like "Yo, what exactly do I need to turbo my 2-stroke" I don't really respond to them becuase it would be too much to explain. I just found your PM and I didn't respond cause I guess I just forgot.

So any other questions ask them in here so I can stop getting PM's about it ;)

Yeah it has a 2.5bar map sensor but you can see from the datalogs that a map sensor won't work since the intake manifold isn't always in vaccum.

im not trying to be an ass but i dont see why that matters. a boosted honda manifold doesnt always have vaccum either. idle and light throttle might be rough on a 2stroke with a map sensor, but under boost would be normal. well, the more i think about it, if the map sensor is getting its reading from before the reed valves then it shouldnt matter at all. but then again, what do i know, i still havent put the turbo on my honda yet. lol

You just need to learn how a 2-stroke works and also how a map sensor works than you'll understand. It does matter, becuase if it didn't matter I would use the map sensor thats already on the thing. On a 2-stroke you need to measure flow not pressure if you want it to run right.

Hey Whitey,

I have a pretty solid understanding (or so I like to think) of both turbos and two-strokes, but those contraptions you talk about elude me. Do you have any sort of references, or web sites, I could go to, to further explain how to turbo a two-stroke?

Thanks!

lol, what "contraptions" are you talking about? And there's not much on the web about how to turbo a 2-stroke, when I looked it was plagued with people saying "turboing a 2-stroke is impossible and can't be done" ::) So I guess HMT is the best source of how to turbo a 2-stroke ;)
