This thread is definite proof of what the attitudes of the import drivers really are. Lets not forget I still own a Honda and probably will again. I still like imports but its time to change it up a little.

Re: Whitey converted to the dark side...
I gotta pipe in here, most folks go the other way, they learn that north american quality is crap, and the reliability isn't their, the rattles the squeaks, the floaty steering... the torquey engines feel great off the line but they get boring quickly.
I had an 89 5.0 Mustang, a stripper coupe, bought it brand new, I really enjoyed that car, but had to sell it after 5 years cause I couldn't afford to keep it through my last year of college, ...constant repairs! I was given a free toyota from a family friend and I never looked back.
I'd never own anything like that for a daily driver again, I learned my lesson, if I was going to get into drag racing hardcore I'd buy a fox body in a second, that's all they are good for in my mind (and driving the quarter gets real boring after a while so that's never gonna happen).
I like my DIY boosted toyota, it still get's 40 mpg while cruising on the highway, it can match or beat my old 5.0 for acceleration, no rattles and squeaks, it feels tight, and it's RWD, what a blast

mmmm...neil has an 86....rwd is fun isnt it...i love my 240 everyday...making the *** end kick out...i love the 2.4 liter engine compared to my old civic with its 1.8...i may not be able to rev as high as a vtec motor but damnit power comes alot earlier and making the tires do a burn out from 2000 rpms and smashing the throttle and then to the 7k redline i go. i always let off at 6800 cause i dont wanna spin a rod bearing with a 96mm stroke...anywho...this is without boost....next week i should be starting to put the turbo on the 240...T4 turbo...can we say fun....
sorry i jacked your thread....neil got me worked up about rwd and ----.

Re: Whitey converted to the dark side...
I just got done installing a Steeda short shifter and took it out for some doughnuts. This thing is like a mini Krispie Kreme factory does doughnuts like a champ.
As for the reliability of the car, I think it depends on the driver. My buddy's 96' Bronco lastest for 250k without any problems at all besides routine matinence. My Mustang requires alot less matinence than a turbo Honda thats for damn sure
Could I just use DSM 450's? How reliable is it and how many people are running this setup?

move the battery into the rear, put the turbo where the battery was, run a fmic one single pipe, up to the TB. put the MAF a little ways before the tb. do burnoffs
its a good idea to have a small length of straight pipe before the MAF so the air is going straight into it.
the next two things i buy:
46 or 42lb-hr injectors ~$260.00
76mm blow through MAF $159.00

some people use a tweecer or whatever that thing is called to adjust the timing better.
instead of setting the base timing low like 5-8degrees and then the ECU will advance it about 16 degrees at wot 20-22 degrees of timing. they use the tweecer to set the timing to pretty much stock and have it back the timing down in the uppers.
the MAF and injectors are supposed to be a plug-n-play deal. just plug em in. i guess on a small percentage of cars you need to use some handheld programmer like the tweecer to tune it.
