This thread reminded me that I need to wrap my water heater with insulation... I've heard it'll cut down on the bill. |

Re: Whirlpool Flame Lock water heaters? FUCKIN GAY
I bought a tankless water heater. Had to run 3 seperate 40a 220v circuits to the mother fucker. :S It's awesome though. Scolding hot water all day long and it's not heating water when I'm at work. I got a BJ in the shower lastnight and the hot water was running the whole time. I couldn't stop thinking about how much money that BJ really cost me. The meter spins like a mother fucker when that thing kicks on. :S

Damn, that's the way to do it though. ---- heating some water I'm not using.

Re: Whirlpool Flame Lock water heaters? FUCKIN GAY
I would get a tankless system, but the initial cost is kinda high... I don't have that kind of money.

I was looking on Lowe's website for this unit and it said they had to order it for $668. I went in to order it and I found one in a dirty box laying next to the display units with a "clearance" stick on it for $250. :6 I used a coupon for 10% off and ended up getting it for $225. The supplies to hook the electrical up were pretty expensive though. If you were to have an electrician come hook it up it would probably be around $800-$1000 and there will probably be holes in the wall that need to be patched afterwards. :l |
Re: Whirlpool Flame Lock water heaters? FUCKIN GAY
i wanted one, but they are pricey.
it i had to add that ---- i would have to add yet another box to my two i have now. $255 isnt bad at all though. gotta love open box ----. i ended up fixing it last night, got a whole new manifold assembly with a reset switch and everything. it also has an adapter so i can use a right hand thread thermocouple now too. |
Re: Whirlpool Flame Lock water heaters? FUCKIN GAY
We got a propane tankless at my parents house. Other than the initial time to get hot water and the fact a low flow shower head doesn't flow enough to keep it kicked on sometimes its the ----. Its sort of retarded to have to leave the sink trickling hot to keep it on. lol

Re: Whirlpool Flame Lock water heaters? FUCKIN GAY
I looked at my hot water heater today and it looks fairly new. The outside metal isn't warm (meaning the hot water inside doesn't seem to be transfering heat to the outside) and there appears to be some kind of isnsulating foam inside the outer metal jacket... would it still be worth it to put a layer of insullation around it like the old school water heaters?

I'm assuming this way it's even more efficient since it's 100% hot water instead of mixing it to find a happy medium.
