where'd my vtec go?

ok so, i've got about 90% of my charge piping done, and i've got my FMIC to IM all welded up, and i've got a bend on the inlet of the IC with my filter on there (super cold air intake ©). so, my intake is now a filter near my exhaust mani, bend around to a intercooler, up through the stock intake hole, to the throttle body.

now, i figured i might feel a little different when i get on it, right? so im on my way to my homies house after finishing up and i decide to try a little 3rd gear pullin. i get to 4.4K and VTEC comes in and out like a spaz (sounds like someone hitting a drum) and im like wtf.. and just let off. then just now im my way home, i went from a stop, and tried some 1st gear VTEC. same thing- rev's up to 4.4K, VTEC spazes then once its done (like 5k) it accells without VTEC.

wtf? checked my oil, checked my VTEC solenoid plugs, dunno if it's throwin a code since i don't have an O2 in, and it's ------- cold as balls out. not gonna bother checking that now. any ideas?

cliffs: my N/A intake runs through a FMIC, for a "super" cold air intake, now VTEC doesn't want to stay engaged

check wiring from ecu, check plugs on harness, maybe an intermittent connection?

is it tossing any codes? your vtec pressure switch could be faulty. same thing happend to me i replaced that and vtec worked agian. I was gettting on the car and about 6300rpm vtec would shut off then come back on around 7800. fixed my pressure switch and it works fine.

ECU/wiring hasn't been touched in hella.. i can't think of any reason for it to ---- up. its a OBD1 D Si harness, with an OBD1 B motor so there's nothing ghetto besides the single wire for my knock sensor

yea, i kinda figured that, but we were in a hurry to clean up and had most of the stuff tightened down.

low end just feels the same, only more sluggish throttle response :P

so let me get this straight. what your running now is partial charge piping through your fmic and then have a pipe with a filter attached to it? how about take off the charge piping before the fmic and take it out for a spin and see what happens.

oil pump? my buddys gsr did that. vtec would come on sometimes, then the oil pump went out and he spun a bearing
