Where to plumb my oil drain line.

Dear Sir/s:

I have an on-going project in which I am trying to install a GT1849V turbo onto a Mazda B2500 pickup with a WL-31 diesel engine.

I have a problem with the oil drain from the turbo to the engine.

In the original engine there is an oil fitting beside the dipstick tube that enters into the block at that level.

If I drain into the pan, the level will be about 2 inches LOWER than the fitting in the original manufacturers turbo design.

Should I try to use the same level or drill into the pan and accept the lower drain point?

Thanks a bunch.

Just make sure that the drain is above the oil level.
