I turned 30 in April. I am married, own our own home, and have an 11 month old son. Between the both of use we make a hair under $100k a year. With that said, I have a $200 CRX. I dump money into it but being set is a fantasy. The more you make, the more you spend. Every month you think you are going to get ahead, something comes up. In CT you have to pay taxes on cars yearly. With our 3 cars its about $750 this year. It ------- sucks. Yearly bonuses and tax return go to paying off bills or buying things for the house. Child care isn't cheap as most of you know. We pay around $800 a month for day care.

Justin, look at it as a whole. I do. Beautiful family, health and some free time is all you really need. I thought the same way you do. Stressing about money, always anxious about the future. Now we just take it as it comes.

That's shitty, it's never too late to plan out your financial future. My stategy was as simple as getting out of debt and not gaining more. I was doin good too, paid off a shitload of credit cards and school loans in no time. I figure it's much easier to do before you have a family, etc. And you can jump on a lot more oppertunities with cash in hand instead of a list of debt speaking for your income. Start a account or cd for that house and don't think about it, you never know what oppertunities may pop up randomly

At least you only fell of a roof and fucked yourself up. I think that was right around the same time I earned the gov't bracelet I'm wearin now. At least I don't drink anymore :1

ya be'ing 21 now and just starting college-i started kindargarten late and graduated when i was 19. so im already 2years behind it seems like. And im talking some welding classes for the summer but planning to get into automotive. not exactly sure what i want to do "when i grow up" and how everythings going to work as far as money works out. but i never really stress out about stuff like that. i just go with what im doing and try my best. some how things always seem to work out for me and others. it seems the less you worry the better/ easier things go for you. even though i am younger then you, i would suggest trying to keep your mind on the gold and just try to be the best you can. if thats finding a better job at what you do or asking for a upgrade at your job then do it. my friends always tell me i never like to spend money and the only thing i really do is my car and chinese food (general tsao spicy).

I feel you. I'm turning 30 in November, wifey is turning 30 in about 2 hours. I have a 13 month old daughter. We make just under 100k and can't afford a house now but are saving up for it within 2 years($$$NYC$$$). 2 cars, child care, blah blah blah. Just found out I'm being downsized in 6 months (as my job put it they're consolidating resources). But you know what? ---- it, ---- happens. If your a person that stresses ---- you'll always find something to stress about. No matter your age, job, living situation whatever. Way I see it, I'll get a better job making more money (over 60k) and get the house faster.

Electrician. I've considered moving, but when you factor in cost of living to what you might make extra, it doesn't really add up. I might make $25/hour working in CA, but my rent will be $1300/month and I will have to drive 100 miles each day to get to work.

Or you can move to the midwest and make $25 an hour with a new house in an "urban free zone" for sub 200k.

Sounds to me like your in tight with this one company, Maybe look into union work? I would imagine that theres got to be someplace reasonably within your work where you can move for less.

There is no union work within 175 miles. Even if there was, I wouldn't make much more than I'm already making.
