Whats Up? Newbe Here......

Whats up guys

I just registered (obviously) and wanted to say hello.
I recently finished putting a custom turbo system together for my 98 Dodge Neon R/T. Here's some pics

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-...no@10psiWF.jpg

Made 259whp & 235 wtq @10 psi, still needs some tuning, I'm so rich it's fouling out my plugs. :'( But should be good for at least high 12s on street tires, and a lot of fun on the street. No one expects to hear phhssssss and then be beaten by a ------- Neon!

T3/T04E
FMIC
Tial 38mm Wastegate
Stainless ceramic coated manifold
3" turbo-back exhaust
1000hp fuel system
yadda, yadda, yadda

Anyways, hope to make some friends and learn something from you guys.

Later,

Ryan

It's still a.....oh nevermind. ::) Nice car and welcome to HMT.

I'm just curious, what all comes with a 1000hp fuel system? I see an FMU and I hope you have something else for fuel management. :-\

you knew that saying was comming...

Nice setup, too bad Neon's are now being recognized as fast cars so now they're no longer sleepers but just a fast ugly car. I'd also like to hear more details about the fuel system....

I was trying to keep it short, but here's a list of the fuel system mods:

Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump & 10 micron filter
custom fuel pickup
SS braided hose and aluminum hose ends
Billet fuel rail w/gauge & 36 pp/h injectors
Cartech Racing/BEGI FMU & AEM Universal FPR
Aside from the injectors, the FMU route has supported over 500whp on Neons.

Actually, now that I think about it, only the pump/filter, lines, rail and regulators would support that much hp (not that I'll ever get anywhere near that, so forget about that 1000hp part ;))

The Neon's PCM is encrypted, and no one has yet to break it to reflash the PCM for turbo use. Only option for FI engine management is stock PCM w/piggy backs or standalone EMS.

I see a S-AFC peeking from the compartment under the radio.

I think that's a boost controller.

So the only thing you are using to compensate for boost is the FMU, correct? Stock injectors?

259whp, but yep. I still consider drag radials as street tires. It's not like I'm pulling this out of my ass here, it has been done many times before. Remember power to weight ratio? And unlike most Hondas I've seen, I am actually making some torque.

Yeah, I do catch a little ---- about the whole Neon thing, but once people see it in person or ride in it, they give me a lot of respect.
I get a lot of props at the track from the import and V8 crowds, even back when I was NA with a few bolt ons. This isn't your typical POS Neon.

Forgot about the S-AFC, thats hiding in the ashtray. Boost control is via a Turbo XS Dual Stage mounted to the lf strut tower. Fuel under boost is provided by the FMU and 36 pp/h injectors. (Stockers are 19 pp/h)

Its jsut that most of us aside from random strike are not big neon fans. your car could have 1000 HP, it would get respect, but its a...

no to piss you off or what not.. its IMO.

Re:Whats Up? Newbe Here......

Yeah, I know. Most people are not, and that's cool. I chose a Neon because it's different and contrary to popular belief, is a really good base for a competitive sport compact.

One could go on to say, "It's just a Civic." It is just another econobox POS, but if built up the right way, can be really badass. I'm a car enthusiast and don't desriminate against other cars just because it's a certain make or model. I don't wish to start a domestic versus import arguement, I think I'm above ignorant ass arguments like that.

But, the Neon is still another econobox POS as most sport compact are, and am currently saving up for a nicer daily driver. (And keep the Neon as a fun street/drag car.)

true but the civic dident have abillion recalls on it in the first 5 years of life.. quality is what im getting at. again not to start an import/domestic war again (god knows there has been enough around here) but yes its jsut a civic, just like its just a neon, or a corvette. everyone has one. *shrug* i dunno..

Very nice...i think your setup is tighter than mine in terms of space. Very nice work.

I think 12's are attainable, but just not on street tires.

It is a neon, but you did it up well.
Welcome... ;)

IMO a cool car is a car that noone pays any attention to until you blow by a mustang. Your neon kicks ass.

12's better be attainable with that car if he's running drag radials. I ran 12's on POS *real* street tires. Its all on your driving skills.
