What's up with eBay?

Is it just me or does anything having to do with a car go for way more than what it is worth? I have been bidding on turbo parts for a couple months now and haven't got a damn thing. I am starting to think eBay is a waste of time unless you are selling something... then it is a gold mine.

For an example I was the high bidder on a TD04 WRX turbo at $81 and I bid within the last 20 sec or somehting like that so I figured it was mine. :) Well I ended up loosing to somebody who must have had e-snipe cause he got it right before the auction ended. >:( I found another WRX turbo and bid on that... The damn thing went for $150 almost twice what the other one went for and it was in exactly the same condition. I just don't get it sometimes.

Your right. I never win an auction on ebay, unless it's BIN. I sling the ---- out of anything and everything on that damn website, and I make a killing, but I'm one of the few that only sells a good deal. I have a conscience and I don't even want to chance a bad rating.

---- I bought my mani, turbo unit, and downpipe with ebay husslin around X-mas--just with ---- that layed around in boxes that I never used, but I'll be ------ damned If I can win an auction for a boost timing master 5462. They cost 160.00 new and shipped from Jeg's or the sort, and these things will go used on ebay for 170, plus 15-20 bucks shipping. I want to find a deal on ebay, but these sellers know what's hot and hard to find.

Re:What's up with eBay?

There is a guy at my job that sells things on eBay. He sells all kinds of junk and people just buy it up. Like we got these lame "Men in Black II" Ray Ban sunglasses. Hideous things.

Well, he his pair on eBay for and they went for $60!!! I had him sell mine, and they went for the same!!!

He says it's all about how you sell. Had we sold them together, we wouldn't have gotten such a good price. He's got this whole philosiphy on how to make money..

My point, I guess is, sellers know exactly what to do to drive the price up. From having thier friends bid on stuff, and not caring if it doesn't sell to them. They just relist. There is a whole philosiphy to selling. :-\

Yeah, I used to buy a lot of computer ---- on ebay...
now that stuff usually goes for cheap. unless it's something super-rare.

but car ----.. whew! it gets blown way out of proportion!

i think its mainly cause ricers or people who don't know about cars buy them cause they look cool its insane i agree. Hell i custom machine shifter knobs out of solid t6 aluminum for automatics ( eliminates the button ) and i sell them on ebay for $30 a pop and make a good profit off it

Re:What's up with eBay?

ebay is a good deal if you are looking for something that nobody else is. for example I lost my cell phone last week and I bought a brand new one on ebay for $50. In the stores it is $160. car audio stuff is way cheaper too. but for some reason "real" car upgrades (turbo parts for example) are way over priced. no idea why. maybe it's the mentality that ebay is cheaper for everything.

Re:What's up with eBay?

i think its the people in the booneys bidding all teh way up there because its cheaper for them to get it off ebay rather than find a import store or junk yard cus they dont got one in their area :P

I've got some Great deals on parts with ebay.. You do have to be carefull and find out what the part is really worth, as well as shipping costs.. Some cheap heavy parts might be cheaper to just but new locally than to even ship. ;D

There is an accusump going at $204.00 right now worth about $185.00 brand new? Go figure!
