whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
think my junkyard clutch is coming to an end :-\ ---- for 13bucks you would think it would last forever!!! ;) thinking i might replace it (might just hold off till i find a B16 not sure yet). anyway where can i get the best price on a desent D-series (90-91 Civic/CRX) clutch? so far im thinking ebay/Exedy clutch or the ---- they sell at Schucks (CSK Auto, i work there so i get a discount). thanks

Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
Yeah I need a good cheap clutch for 8 psi boost on a ZC engine. :(

Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
id say just get the b16 if u can afford it now. Why spend the money on a clutch if u dont plan on runnin that engine for too much longer.

Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
stock replacement exedy clutches work real well for the 100 bucks ull spend
|
Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
Will the stock replacment exedy clutches take 8-9 psi of boost ?
|
Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
If I'm not mistaken Jeff said he ran boost on a Pep Boys clutch. I forget how much exactly.
|
Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
Dustin your a cheap ----, just buy a disc at schucks, what like 35 bucks? Btw, if you wanna put this turbokit on before the 14th, let me know.

Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
intercooler is scheduled for delivery on the 9th, you got one i can use? i would like to have it on but i have no IC...
<~~cheap fucker, BUT the TO bearing is fucked too. 35 for disc, 35 for a bearing...thinking a clutch set might be better idea. and i kinda spend my money for the B16 project, so it might wait till next year :'( |
Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
I got my whole exedy clutch kit for 120 and it holds up real good... however the other day I held it up too long and it slipped real bad.

Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
oops :-[

Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
is the clutch pressure rating for static friction or moving?
|
Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
can you re use an old pressure plate?
|
Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
Yeah, you can re-use an old pressure plate as long as it's not damaged.
|
Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
what do you mean by 'damaged'
are 88-89 and 90-91 PP the same?? |
Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
wasnt like 88-89 210mm and the 90-91 like 215 or someshit?
i forget now. by damaged i think he means like scored |
Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
the clutch surface area is bigger (200mm vs 212/220mm), im thinking that the clutch PP and flywheels are not bigger them selfs (overall diamiter). anyway what i was thinking was i can score a ACT HD PP (off an 88) for cheap (probly free) and just get a new disc and T.O. bearing from shmucks...
btw i have a 90-91 DX tranny/clutch setup in my car... |
Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
well if i hadda known i could re use my pressure plate.. i got a exedy disc laying here mabey ill throw it in this weekend.

Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
I'm running an Exedy clutch. I have had it for about three years now. I beat the living ---- out of it day after day. I don't think it holds up well to boost, but this is after 3 years of tearing it up. Its finaly starting to loosen up, but it has held up through some rough ----. For the $ I would say its worth it. Oh yeah, I also gave it like a 1/2 mile break in period. ;D I can still light the tires up shifting into third.

Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
you said it doesnt hold up to boost? do you run boost?
|
Re:whats that smell? eww its the clutch...
Well, yeah. I mean after all this time it isn't holding up to boost. I'm not really knocking it. I can't say it is a bad clutch because it has survived me driving it like I stole it. I have heard from others that it doesn't hold up well under boost anyways.
