Whats with the influx of noobs?

Within the past couple of days we've had almost 100 noobs a day signing up. Its the second highest month for new memberships and signing up wasn't even allowed for a majority of March. Did we make it in another magazine or something?

That is actually a good idea. I mean you can allow new people to view the site and the FAQ's but to post they must have a referral or send a letter to jeff stating why it would be a good idea to let them register, thiat way we can keep gay ---- off the forums.

You honestly think jeff would want to take time to read a bunch of letters written by dipshits.

Natural selection, the dumb ones normally get forced out by there own stupidity (except for spenser and hotrex).

If anything charge a cover charge a cheap, one time fee to sign up that will naturally get rid off the people who sign up and have nothing to contribute (Like me)

we should make the n00bs take a basic turbo test of like 5 questions, if you pass, then you're in

on another note, we should let them sign up, but they need the mods to allow them to view other boards except for like a beginners board.

the minute you start adding restrictions and "member only" privelages everyone's heads start to swell up and then they get stuck and can't pull them out of their asses.

not having gay rules and ---- was one of the things i liked about hmt when i first joined. anyone can come on here and ask stupid questions, douche is right, dumb people will get flamed and not want to come back. if they are persistent then they will either get banned or earn a little respect depending on how they go about it. this site is set up perfect the way it is... it is open to anyone, but the active membership is selective on it's own without gay ass rules on who we deem acceptable and who we can't be bothered with. hmt doesn't need rules other than: "no gay porn".

I'm liking the test thing... the only thing is that many noobs come here to learn. So we should make them read a nuB guide to HMT first, and then test them on their knowledge so they don't ask questions on the basics...

making people take test or having people pay or needing referrals to join is gay. Noobs come to HMT to learn how to build turbo kits. If they already knew how to do everything that they wouldn't even come to a site like this. I know if HMT was a pay site I would have never signed up and 98% of you wouldn't even be here. Just look at the donation thread. Only a slim few people actually donate to this site to help it out. Some of these long term members and post -----s never gave a dime to this site so making this a pay site would just destroy it.


BTW I just realized that there is no guest viewing so that may explain why all your noobs belong to us.

I think that there should be a way where noobs HAVE to read the FAQ at the top of the FI forum. It seems like every other post in there is something that is obviously covered in the sticky.

I find it odd when I get PMs from registered members with 0 posts lately...

Noobs should be sent an email upon registering 'suggesting' that they donate a small amount for the VAST amount of noob info they are about to receive :)

I'm a noob and i donated $11.00 O0 And I agree, if HMT was a paysite, I wouldnt be here. The only thing that having tests and fees and ---- would accomplish is a landslide of new members at TurboD16- and I dont think anyone her wants that

this place is a premier place of information on turbos, one of the bests sites out there on turbo setups. took me a few hours to find this place and since hten i've spent at least 50 hours reading through threads and links. and if you know what questions to ask most of the older more knowledgeable members will answer your q's. some people are dicks but who cares deal with it they are gonna be on any site, cuz u've been here longer u're better than me, so what, get over it.

its a good place to get info and i refer a lot of people to come browse the forums cuz of the vast amount of knowledge stored in these backend files...

we were all noobs at one point in time. if they ask a stupid question.. so what maybe they cant find it or its faster for them to just get the answer. and for the paying and test.. it would kill the site.. thats my 2 cents. ( still am a noob)
