so im grinding a set of 20 pieces of 1x2x3.25" mild steel into d ring hangers for a run of jeep bumpers at work today.

suddenly i smell burning, and then a puff of smoke in my face.

I look down and my ------- leg is on fire! The sparks from grinding ignited my coveralls and burned two big holes in em, scorched my carhartts a little, and my leg feels a little burnt.

It was pretty funny. I wish I woulda had a camera.

i did that also w/ a grinder, but i lit up a trash can! ran it outside and LMAO.

my friend is a pipe fitter he was weldin some kinda pipe and sparks fell onto a filter ina hvac duct that wasn't supposed to be installed but it filled a 7 story building with smoke got chicago FD called and evacuated the job site for an hour

Yeah I caught my shirt on fire last summer, was grinding my exhaust off where it goes over the LCA in the rear and it lit my shirt up pretty good, i was so wedged under the car though that I had a bitch of a time even getting an arm at it

You should see my welding clothes, I look like a crack addict. I seriously can't count how many times I lit myself on fire

yep, getting lit on fire is no big deal, the worst is when you are welding and you don't have your ---- on, and the flux and ---- drips into your shoe, or lands on the top of the head, or the worst is when you are under a car on your back and the ---- falls onto your arm and burns through your shirt and stays on the tender inside of your arm, man that hurts.
