I had a sweet job sitting around doing nothing taking care of experimental research plants and I got fired on 12/4 for complaining to the Department of Labor about not getting a paycheck for 8 weeks (secretarial screwup). I have a sweet case against them... but its not worth it for a 20 hour a week job. I have applied to over 15 jobs in the past 2 weeks but everyone has already hired / is firing there seasonal help. Im at the point where I'm going to go apply for ug retail positions..... I also drive a POS MK2 VW which luckily has not broke since ive been jobless (suprise). The worst part is I have an 89 DX hatch sitting in my driveway that only needs some front end parts replaced for it to drive... and I have 90% of the turbo buildup in my closet/under my bed.

warehouse jobs, I took one test in 10 minutes, watch people take 45 minutes and still not get done!

What did I do in the mean time, I ask the resource director about the job details.

only asking 25k a year, 30k with overtime.......my old job was making $17 hr, 40k per year.

i dunno where you guys are from but stop and shop is ALWAYS hiring.. make like 7 bucks an hour to hold you over and then you can get another job easily. Employers really wanna see you actually work!

I went and applyed at Fox & Hound restruant on the first day of them accepting applications for this brand new resturant. my availablilty was from open to close, 3 years of resturant experience as a cook at 2 restruants and i didint get hired. yet, some kid i know who applyed a week afterwords with no kitchen experience who is 17 years old got hired. And there excuse for not hireing me was "Oh, since this is a pub and grill we realy want someone whos 21 or older" what the ----? Last time I checked 20 years old was old enough to serve and work in a place like that. Now we have some mall opening neer centerville and kettering wich is going to tottaly screw the economy at beavercreeks mall. These malls are about 10 miles apart.. Beavercreeks mall gets most of its business from people who live in centerville/kettering who want to go to a more yuppy mall with bananna republics and starbucks. And since centerville/kettering are the money areas around here jobs and businesses around here = screwed. Your better off selling crack than trying to hold a job here

Word of advise, temp agencies aren't there to get you work, they're there to get payed. Look throught the paper and start calling every single thing that applies to you.

It was a tough time for me about 5 years ago, and I was a janitor in a warehouse that had a bunch of low paid mexican's doing the actual warehouse work (driving a fucken fork lift all day) while I was the white guy with a black boss cleaning the fucken toilets.
If it's not critical, than wait for a job that you actually want, but when it comes to live or die, then go get what you got. (I know, sometimes it ain't much)

thats why you make money on the downside, while getting paid from a shitty 7-8 dollar job., hustle car parts, work on cars, sell things, and still get paid from a shitty job. make sure you have many sources to create income from, despite them not all being legal but you have to do what you have to do at times. and even if hustling illegal things isnt working, start looking through the house for things to sell to pay the bills. i know if everything went down the shithole today i could sell off enough parts to come up with atleast a G within a week or two. find more sources of income, all i can say, and it takes money to make money.

damn that sucks, out where i am now everywhere is hiring non stop. so there's no shortage of work and Alberta is a rising province that keeps the flow going with oil and everything else, so its a gold mine. all you gotta do is put some effort into your job and its gravy.
