I take it the hole was in the top of the gas tank? Did he smell gas?

It seems to me like he did it, thought he'd blame it on you so he didn't have to catch the bill.

Sorry to hear that man, you'll find work somewhere else, no problem.

It seems wrong that they fire you for making a simple mistake...

That's messed up. Everyone makes mistakes from time to time but we don't get fired for it!

Well I do think I am at fault, I'm willing to accept responsibility for my mistakes. I even called the owners of the car and spoke to the father of the girl who's car it is. I told him that I could lose my job and if we could handle this outside of my place of business then I would call the shop and give them my credit card number ASAP and he agreed. Well, I find out today his wife doesn't want that to happen, but now she isn't happy with my company's speed at taking care of this. All she had to do was nothing and the shop was going to take care of it asap and I was paying for it. I'm so pissed about this. I'm just about to take a long weekend too, planned on getting some work done on my car and bike. Now it looks like I'll be driving around looking for work.

Today I find out that its quite possible that I won't get fired since that is a bendable company policy and they just need to check with our district manager and I might just be ok. This has been such a roller coaster ride for me. I will probably have grey hair by the time this is all said and done.

Most corporations are. Its hard to make your employees believe you care about them when you really don't. Just like its hard to make your employees believe they are taking care of the customer while getting every penny from them possible.

Acctually, it's a bendable rule because your boss ---- his pants when I called his house and threatened his life. Don't mention it though, it was really the least I could do.

I still think you work for Best Buy, lol. But your right, whether it's Best Buy, Circuit Shity, Tweeter, etc... All the corporate ******** are the same. They want, want, want from you and you give, give, give....but when it comes time to protect or give back to "one of their own" they act like they don't know you. I will tell you, I WORKED at Best Buy for over 7 years, and I've been doing car audio/video/security for about 12 years. I got fired from the company once for something that I did and I admitted that I did it and I had worked there for 2.5 years at that point. I took 5 days off, made a phone call on the 6th day and started work on the next day at another shop. I Worked that job for 2.5 years and eventually went back to Best Buy because of the long drive to the other job. I worked at Best Buy for almost 5 years the second time. They tried to discipline me for something that I did not do, the customer even told me his buddy had worked on the car and the repair shop said exactly what caused it and it was what his buddy had done......well they paid the damage clain and then tried to right me up. I emailed many people saying that if they tried to write me up or if this went in my record in any way, shape or form, there would be trouble, including legal action. Never heard another word about it after that email. Don't be a push over man. I quit Best Buy last May and am now partners with another guy and we have had our own shop open for about 10 months and it's funny, whenever the guys at Best Buy can't do something or are "afraid" to work on a certain car....it get's sent my way. Anyway, I digress...back to my original thought......Stealthmode, drop the damn bomb already
