What a wonderful MFing day!!

I'm not one to complain much on the net cause I do enough of it in real life but this sucks.

Today I came into work and my boss asked me if I remembered working on 99 Mercury Cougar a couple months ago. I am an installer at a chain electronics store and I'm pretty good at what I do by the way. I told him I did, and he went on to tell me it at a shop right now because of a hole in the gas tank. I'm really careful about where I screw into and I'm always 99% sure before I run a screw in all the way. I may very well have hit it though I guess. I'm just hoping that since its been a couple months maybe somebody tried to screw the sub box down and hit the tank. Somebody had done a piss/poor job of installing a CD player in it before I worked on it.

But the thing that sux the most is I could lose my job over this. They fired somebody before for it, but I'm pretty sure they just wanted an excuse to get rid of him. They said that running a screw into the gas tank put the customer in danger. This would really be a shitty time for me to lose my job. My boss is pulling for me since this isn't his call, will be up to either the GM or district. Cross your fingers for me.

I put a drill bit through the gas tank on my old civic 4 years ago, I had 2" of clearance between the trunk and the tank but I was rushing and pressing on the bit too hard and through she went, So made the hold in the floor bigger and located the small hole in the tanks and plugged it with sealant.

Tell your boss that you didn't do it and the ghetto ass mofo's that own the car did it. Then stab him in the neck with a screwdriver.

Come over to my place with the customer's car, two racks of baby back ribs, a dozen coronas, and 2 packs "JB WELD" and we'll fix that gas tank HMT STYLE!

I would really disagree with you and ---- like that happening at chain stores including Best Buy, I'd rather not say where I work or get too specific since I still don't know what is going to happen. I am an experienced install and have been doing this for nearly 5 years. I just made a simple mistake, something I don't do that often. My work is pretty boring and mindless to me since I've been doing the same simple stuff so often. I must have just gotten a little too comfortable in doing things and made a mistake.

I was told there was some gas puddled below the seat and that is probably why they would say its a danger since its next to electrical connections and to an uneducated person on electronics they would think that is some major danger, but the screw had to still be in the tank so its not like it was a wide open hole in the tank. The seat would probably ahve to be on fire before the gas would ever burn. If the seat was already in fire they would be out of the vehicle. What would really piss me off is another employee backed an EXT out with a door open but stopped before it pushed the door up much, but it did push the door into the fender, it was pretty messed up. He just got a write up for that.
