What sub to buy?
Ók so im looking at either a planet audio 10 or an eclipse 12. It will be powered by a volvenhag 500 watt amp. Custom ported box in an eg 4 door. Its for my girl for christmas. Also the pa has only 1 year warrenty while the eclipse has three. Both cost 99 brand new at a local car audio shop. Any body got any exp with these subs? mainly she listens to rock and rap. She complains that my sub gives her a headache so it cant bump too hard. I have a quantum audio 12 1500 watt/rms on a lanzar vibe class d mono channel 1000 watt amp in my eg 4 door.

Re: What sub to buy?
It sounds like youi just need to fill in the "base gap". Just get a JBL 200 watt 8" sub.Thats all you need :y. I think mine was like $89 bucks or something. Beside you wont need such a big box for it......oh and 4doors civic arent EGs ;).

Re: What sub to buy?
planet audio is not really known for their subs, rather video monitors and dvd players are their best sellers. the eclipse will sound nice. its a good all around sub woofer. youd be better of with the eclipse in the long run. just keep your amp either at 1/3 of it gain or a little over. never ever evvvvvvvver, i dont know how much i can stress this but, never have your amp at full gain you will instantly blow your sub(s). ive had to many damn customers come back saying that they hooked them up and they blew. i tell every customer that buys subs from us to keep their amp gain at 1/3 of the max and they dont listen. set every option on you amp to 0 and make sure you have lowpass filter on(better bass). then continue to set the options from there. if you have subsonic filter setting on your amp, use it. it will make the bass hit cleaner. if you have anymore audio questions im open for them.

JL Audio 12W0 in a sealed box teamed with a quality 150 watts RMS amplifier will probably satisfy her needs more than adewuately.
I once had 2 JL12W3 D2 running in a sealed enclosure teamed up with an Xtant 121m running @ 1ohm. Sounded awesome and was probably in the upper 140 db. range if not lower 150's. |
Re: What sub to buy?
Our top seller. http://www.amamax.com/mesu12me20pe.html $109 shipped we sell them for 165 each inhouse I have no idea how they can sell that cheap. Its a great sub and our customers beat the piss out of them. Very clean sounding too you would be suprised. They play great under low power apps but feed them some juice and they will knock. We did a 151 at the last USACI show using just 2 Merlon 12's in a Camaro on the new style termlab mics. Then again...everything sounds great in a camaro haha.

Re: What sub to buy?
I would get some audiobahn dual voice coils 10" or 12" and call it a day, they are cheap and they sound great, I have a pair of 10" and I love them, they where under $100.
