Default what kind of suspention and brakes for my 90 hf crx...

well, i plan on buying some lowering springs or coilivers for my crx project, and some aftermarket struts, also like sway bar kit, tracktion bar and maybe a few other things. i was just wondering what you guys prefured, i want it to be stiff and to be able to take corners fast, without much body roll, i already have 16"wheels with tires, soon to be falken azeina's since they came out with a new one. please give me some imput on what u think works best and gives the best stant.

also i was planing on doing a integra front and rear disc brake conversion and brake booster, just wondering what kind of pads, and rotors you prefure, and also what all do i need to do the rear swap properly without the wheels sticking out farther in the back, i also herd u can use somthin to make the camber correct off a integra like use stock crx lower control arm and integra top or somthin, but idk. any help or susgestions would be greatly apreitated. -blake

I'd do..

90-91 Civic EX front brake conversion with Hawk brake pads, brembo slot/drilled rotors
Rear brakes I'd leave alone,

Suspension techniques front and rear sway bar (w/ 89-91 si rear lower control arms)
Custom Front Cross member, either make it yourself or buy one.
I wouldnt worry about tie bars/strut braces if you plan on putting a roll bar/cage in.

Ingalls front and rear camber kit, (or just use washers for the rear)

H&R Race springs w/ some KYB adj struts would be nice or if your going all out race, get some full-threaded body H&R Coil overs, their only like a grand or so

o dont think i have herd of a 90-91 civic ex before is that like the si or somthin, whats better about them>?
i want to convert to rear disc just because i would like rear discs lol, better e brake lol, but ya i saw some h and r's for a good price and they dont lower it too low. i wasnt sure on the shocks, it will be a weekend car, somtimes driven around when im bored, or on sat night but that sounds good to me.

could i just get aftermarket bigger disks and calipers, lines and pads instead of getting ex conver? is ex alot better.
sorry about all the questions, but ive never had a crx before and want to do whats best for it. basicly restoring it right now, i have always loved the way they looked just hard to find a nice one.

Using Teg Knuckles in the front is going to throw the suspension geometery up big time, Thats why people use the 90-91 Civic 4door EX upgrade. You swap the knuckle/brake setup from that car right onto yours and it works perfectly. The brakes are 1in larger than stock, (turbohf) had this swap done on his 88hf. I've done the rear disc swap on my 89 si and thought it was a complete waste of time. I swapped over the pro valve, master cylinder etc from a 91 si and it doesnt brake any better at all, and the ebrake feels the exact same. The rear disc trailing arms are about twice as heavy as the rear drums, and in all honestly (other than looking cooler) I dont think its worth it at all.

i agree with abaz...i just picked up the ex assembly. it cost like 70 bucks for the stuff then im puttin new rotors and pads with SS brakelines. if you can find the ex assembly at the junkyard i would pick it up. you have to have atleast 14in rims on it to clear....ask lsdmotorsports for rotors and pads...they will hook u up.

ok thats y, i thought u were talking about a hatch or somthin. but i think ill try that, i still want to do a rear disc conv thow, since i can get most of the ---- for hella cheap. so do i use stock control arms and all, just use knuckles and brakes?
are the calipers as good as a integra caliper?

i do plan on building a roll cage for it eventualy, but i dont really have a pipe bender, and i dont think u want to weld it together with peices, i need to find a place that can bend all of it the way i want around here in WA, i can put it in and weld it.

so u still have that b16 block thow?

Yes, just swap the knuckles and entire brake setup from the EX.. I think the brake sizes are the same as an integra, so it probably even uses the same pad. Turbohf (dustin) would know for sure.

If you are interested in a roll cage/roll bar there is a place in Auburn that has kits for crx's (and just about every other import) The hoop is all bent up and ready to go, costs around 150-250 bucks.

http://www.artmorrison.com/

I use to have a AM cage in my crx, and the exgf had a AM roll bar in her EK.

EEEERRRR Wrong!

I have it as we speak!! If you use the EF Control arms (upper and lower) you'll be fine. I installed them this winter and got everthing aligned and nothing was out, everyting was hitting stock alignment except for the camber which I wanted at -1deg anyways.

Plus finding EX knuckles in Canada is next to impossible!!!!!

If you really want. I have a set of CRX SiR knuckles, calipers and rotors sitting in my shop from my clip I just picked up.

As for rears use the trailing arms rotors and calipers from a 90-93 teg. I pick mine up for 50 CAN a side, 25 for the roll bar. I got new pad and rotors from CarQuest. Don't use the Teg LCA, It will throw your toe out a smig.
