what are the kids in h-t up to now

Bored looking at forced fourms saw this http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2104408&page=1. 400whp on stock z6 maybe for one launch :1 ,in this video dosent look like 400whp to me http://www.epictuning.com/vide...1.wmv . I really love the awd but i call bullshit on 400whp on stock bottom end. If you look at the picture of his z6 motor with out the oilpan you can see the rods and those do look stock. Just curious what you all thought.

not sure why the other video didnt work here is the one he put on you tube http://youtube.com/watch?v=Qxtf3_IHTfs

They've had that stock block Z6 rolling around for a while. I'd assume its the same one, but who knows? The fact is Evans-Tuning is a legit source of info 99% of the time and the guys at Epic also seem legit based on their work, so I'm going with this being just people knowing what's up and a good amount of luck. Basically the opposite of typical Honda-Tech bullshit.

400hp wont last long on a completely stock block. it wouldnt surprize me if he has vitara pistons and some d16a1 rods. the work on the awd system is solid though. clean work

The only thing I don't like about that setup is how low the rear x-member sits. That would worry the ---- out of me.

Welcome to an EMS that can correctly control timing. Stock D16 bottom ends die because they want NOTHING for timing once you start pushing serious power and the poorly-reverse engineered ECU stuff of yore could only retard so much timing. I don't imagine a stock Z6 would last very long at that power level, unless it was run all the time on c16, but I've maintained for a couple years now that safe daily drive D16 power levels are in the 250-275 whp range and not 225.

Hitchhikkr has already given me permission to blow his stock D16A6 to flinders, I can't wait to get ahold of that one.

I agree its probably at least 250 today. I have found so many people saying the 200-225 is safe and IMO those are old numbers due to a lack of options... Maybe it was true then, but how many hondas can break 10s now when compared to 5yrs ago? Things are looking up :y

Re: what are the kids in h-t up to now

out of the 4 years they made the a1, 2 of the yeras they had stronger rods and the other 2 they had stronger pistons. i cant rmember which years are which but they can handle a decent bit more power when the best of each engine is put together. it has been way too long since i have messed with that stuff to remember the details, but if you search you can find it. i bet its on RPR. people put those a1's in 1st gen crx's all the time

Re: what are the kids in h-t up to now

Ah ok yeah now I remember the 86-87 had stronger rods and flat pistons, the 88-89 had lighter (weaker) rods and domed pistons.. I got the 89 so I dont know how those measure up

highroller, can you critique their rear spindle setup compared to yours? I only skimmed their pics, but I distinctly remember your rear arms requiring a significant bit of mojo and alignment rack doublechecking.

(PS - can you make a jig from your spindles that I can buy?)

Thier rear trailing arm set up is exactly the same as mine, civic front with wago rear overlaped with a modded upper mount (cut down). I used the alignment machine more for setting up the rear x-member then the trailing arms. I could definitly build you a jig but I think anything that would be worth while would weigh a ton (shipping) I fabbed up a quick one from a old rotor welded to the hoist and a stud welded on for the front toe mount. You can use the original civics arms to make the jig because everything except the rear lower control arm mount will be in the same spot but you dont ---- with that one. I know I suck at explaning/typing so anything you need JD just let me know.

Meh, with the cost of airfare these days you're going to want the AWD Civic together for me to molest in the same trip.
