This is what happens when u use...
Never buy an aftermarket lightened pulley.
Sure its light but it fucken wiggles like a mofo. So I open my engine and notice nice little golden snow flakes. http://2.pichold.com/pic085.jpg http://2.pichold.com/pic086.jpg Heres the bastard that did this to me. Your going on ebay you little ----- >:( http://2.pichold.com/pic087.jpg Now does it matter if there are light scratches on the crank? The bearings pictured are the crank ones. The rod bearings are in a lot better shape but you could see that they were getting there. Luckily i didnt spin anything so i just gotta swap the crank hopefully. I guess you can now say that breaking a balljoint saved my engines expensive parts :-X. Also is it normal that when I hand crank the thing i can only get 90 psi in the cylinders? |
Re:This is what happens when u use...
Wow, I've heard of this happening so many times. :-\ I'll never use anything except a Honda crank pulley.

Re:This is what happens when u use...
I use AEM lightened power steering and alt pullies, never had any problems. I had am underdrive crank pulley on my old car, never had a prob, maybe u installed it wrong

Re:This is what happens when u use...
if you crank it by hand and got 90 for the compression, remember that when you crank it with the starter your cranking it 7-10 times so that must be it. i did a compression test on my b16 and 90 was what i saw on the first crank, then more psi til 220 by the 7th crank.

Re:This is what happens when u use...
i kept cranking and i was hearing like a pshhhh when it would compress.
its either that my rings havent seated or the ring gaps are 2 large for na. maybe cuz its also very cold ??? man am i hoping for a miracle :-\ and about the crank pulley, i remember when i would rev the car i could see that thing wobble like a mother fucker... man now im thinking of going ls/vtec :( |
Re:This is what happens when u use...

Re:This is what happens when u use...
Well these light pulleys don't have any sort of a damper in them.

Re:This is what happens when u use...
the reason why you are getting such low readings for the compression is cuz your hands are too slow.
when the starter turns the motor, it moves it fast enough such that the valves close b4 the air "turns around" and goes back out. so, unless u have super powers, you will never be able to get an accurate reading by hand. |
