this is going in gen discussion becasue its more of an opinion and a&q then tech help.

I want to build up my bottom end and do a manual swap and eventually boost again with the proper OBDI conversion and uberdata. Anyways....I have a D16Y8, shitty oil pump, what bottom should i get to build up? keep the y8 bottom or go with a z6? becasue once i commit to the block, i need to start getting transmission stuff...

if you already have the y8 tranny use it, steel shift forks compared to the z6 which is not. also i hear its not the oil pump on the y8 its oil holes are not located in the best spots so people were using z6 cranks? anyone hear this?

Keep the Y8 tranny and get yourself a Quaife LSD. Look into getting ZC 3,4,5 gears also (much shorter). As for the block/head I would get the Z6 because they are cool... and I have one. :P

the y8 has slightly biger valves and i heard that y8's have a problem spining main bearings i rock all z6 cause its cheap
