This type of driving happens frequently in rally racing and circuit racing. In most cases it is done by pressing the brake pedal with the left foot while applying gas with the right foot, aka left foot braking. It is just a way of keeping the engine's RPM within the power band range.

I also power shift (don't let off the gas) when I am in a close race or at the track. I have break boosted a few times when I was on the freeway and bored, but I don't do it that often.

lol its called floating the gears. its really easy and if your not stupid it is better on your clutch. it does make your sincros wear out faster but not a noticable amount.
