baked (burns off everything), then tumbled in a bath of ceramic balls(gives it the shine).. i know theres more steps then just that. and differs for the look you want, but basicly thats it.

my buddy works at one of the biggest powder coating companies around (dad owns it) i've givin him ---- that was rusted and looked like complete ----.. he makes it brand new

Might be an acid wash. A lot of truckers use it to clean their aluminum wheels.

Kinda on this same subject, sorry to thread jack a bit--

What do you guys use to clean up heads/pistons and other engine components? I want a flat rate job on my Z6 head, and it's all carbon'd up and oily. I found a product called Piston Kleen, but they want ~16 bucks a gallon for it.

I saw guys in an issue of honda tuning clean a pair of ZC pistons (PM7) up with a scotchbrite pad. Brake cleaner or gasoline and a toothbrush would probably finish it off decently.
