What is a decent price for install on cams?

What would a decent price be to install a set of GSR cams be? What do you guys think a fair price would be?

You're joking me, right? Hopefully you're doing this for someone else.

I'd charge like 50-60 bucks?

dont you just 1.take valve cover off. 2. take cam caps off. 3 take distributor off. 4. take cams out. 5. put cams on.6 put distributor back on. 7. put cam caps back on. 8. valve cover back on. 9. retune. am i correct or do people like to ajust the valves too while there in there?

a valve job would be even easier with a nonvtec head since its so open. dood, do it yourself. will take u an hour and a half since u will be working slow as balls. first time i did it, i wasnt sure on the torque specs for the cap bolts, so i was online for 30 mins finding the info

you missed the timing belt part which scares lots of people, you would acually need to put the cam caps on before the dist unless you just want it to fall on the floor when you let go

Re: What is a decent price for install on cams?

i could do it yeah. i was just asking what is the going rate? I was just weighing my options. i found a set of GSR cams for $40. Just do not have the time to work on my car for a awhile. if i could find a shop to do it for 50 bucks i could just drop my car off before work and pick it up after work, PAIN LESS. but it sounds like those cams are going to be gone. No need to jump on sombody's nuts for asking a question.

I am looking at things as a whole right now with trying to buy a house working 9 hours a day with a 1 each way commute. Planing for a baby thats comming and making sure my wife has everything she needs in the mean time.

Re: What is a decent price for install on cams?

No shop will do that for 50 bucks unless its a buddy buddy deal. You guys are makin this out like its a an oil change. If your not mechanical and dont undertsand tdc/valve lash/installin a timin belt spend the money and pay someone.

If you know what your doin ya its not that hard but from a shop owner I wouldnt do that for less than 150. The rate of a shop is 55-75 per hour so go from there.

Tatakai 04-14-2006 12:29 AM

Re: What is a decent price for install on cams?

yea i'd do it for $50, but definately expect $100+ for a shop.

first time i did a cam swap took me about 3 hours of actual work, but lastest over 2 days.. started off going to take off the head then stopped halfway and just swapped the cams

Busch light are you serious? I cant stand busch :P

Donny-D-avan, swing it by and I'll slap them in for 25 bucks. I can do it in about 30 mins, including adjusting valves.
