what caused my motor to blow?

I have a 90 honda hatch si with the stock motor on it with only a cold air intake. About a year ago my motor blew. It all started one day that I was going to work. When I started my car I could hear the motor making a clacking noise, it sounded like it was comming from the valves. When I would throtle the car the noise would pick up. I drove it any ways. over the next three days it got worse. the car wouldnt pick up as well. I changed the oil and filter and threw in some of that valve stuff to get rid of the noise, that was my friend said the car need. then the next time I drove the car it blew a rod out of the block.

I never knew what the exact reason for it to blow was. I was told by one guy that I spun a baring.

I still have the stock D16A6 head, Is it worth getting some work done to it? I now havw a zc head and block in the car.

spun bearing sounds right to me.

that knocking you heard was Rod Knock.

No thats not piston slap. Sounds like maybe your oil pump was shitting the bed too.

Re:what caused my motor to blow?

piston slap is different
its when ur pistons have a consideral gap between themselves and the cylinder wall

rod knock is usually caused when the bearings ---- up

Re:what caused my motor to blow?

yea you spun a bearing and threw a rod, believe it or not that is usually the result of poor lubrication. If you fired the car up without warming it up and drove it a lot this would lead to premature bearing failure.
