Default What is the best D-series intake manifold (performance)

I'm building a mini-me engine for my 90 CRX HF, I was wondering if anyone knew what intake manifold would be the best choice for this set up. We all know HF motors suck *** so I'm just looking for some extra power from my daily driver. I have another CRX (91'HF) that I plan on building later in the mean time it just sits in my garage in need of a tranny. Also are all D-series throttle body's compatible with D-series manifolds. I've noticed that some people sell manifolds without throttle body's so I was wondering if I would be able to use mine or some other throttle body.

Here is a list of what I have so far
-complete D16Y8 head (minus intake mani)
-VTEC solenoid
-complete D16A6 block, any better 1.6 blocks I might consider?
-91 L3 tranny

The Si tranny was given to me by a friend, when he had it on his Si I noticed the engine would run like 2500RPM's at 80MPH. Whats that about, good or bad?

Oh and one more thing, what ECU is best?

ive heard that the d16y8 head flows the best. you just got to do some mods to get it to work. it bolts up fine but the a few sensor changes need to be made. the a6 block should be cool

The only intake manifolds I have seen for a dseries are completely custom, skunk2 and the obx one. i got the obx one for free and i am modifying it to fit a zc (new flange). But its a pos, the velocity stacks are a joke and it only takes a stock tb.

I would go with a custom built one personally but the skunk 2 looks good but its kinda pricy.

JG/Edelbrock has a new d series intake manifold now. Its actually comes with there new d series turbo kit pictured below. Im not sure how well it would work for na but for turbo its should be pretty decent.

Is that little red box supposed to be the fuel management? That kit looks nice though.

actually, if you noticed, that intake manifold is tapped for 8 fuel injectors, 2 rails one on top, and bottom, this is the fuel managment that JG setup for these kits.. I read about this awhile back, looks really nice. But you are limited to only using the HKS JDM T25 (greddy) flange for turbos.

my crx 88 Si runs 3,000rpm at 60mph so my guess is thats not a Si tranny, HF maybe? check for stamped markings on it

Best OEM D intake would be a d16y8 with a B or F series throttle body.
