The white T shirt caught it.
The funny part was before that when I got out the hammer...
You see, sharks don't die easily... and if you let them live, they put wholes in your boat as they bite it... holes in the paint/fibreglass = rot. So, as usual, I just attacked the forehead of the shark with the hammer while crouching over holding it still with my knees, they all thought I was crazy as I just kept smashing it again and again and again and..., but it didn't move afterwards :-) I almost had my finger removed by a 120kg mako (thats about 36kg) once that had been out of the water and "dead" for about 5 hours. Never trust a shark to be dead.
Nice work on the arrow :-) Do you eat them, or purely for sport?
We eat the marlin :

You damn well better eat that marlin you filthy Kiwi.
------- great thing to watch your favorite spearfishing reef to die slowly over 4 years because the ------- marina exploded with douchebags taking fishing tours causing disgusting wash out of the marina.
I hate the spoil of tourists.
And you for your remoteness and pelagic monsters.

Have you heard of MSY? Maximum Sustained Yield is a FLAWED concept where you hammer the fishery as hard as you can constantly to get the most profit from it... meanwhile, the fish size demographic and all other aspects get totally fucked. In NZ we have a quota system whereby you are allowed to catch X tonnes of fish per year. This ensures that the fish are "high graded" and massive amounts of non-optimal sized fish (that would sell for a lower dollar/kilo rate) get dumped back dead... Not to mention that the quota levels were not set on some scientific basis, but on the basis of forged log books showing larger catch than was really had in the period before it was introduced... Basically a mess. Ozzy do it a lot better as far as I can tell.

And the pelagic fish by definition are not under our control... Tagged fish from NZ have been caught in the US, and everywhere else pretty much. Thing is, to get to those places, they have to cross the open ocean which is no mans land. There the massive asian long liners and drift net boats cull them like lambs to the slaughter. It's incredibly sad stuff. As world population gets larger and food becomes scarce, its only going to get worse too. A worldwide agreement on open ocean catch is required to curtail the destruction of the pelagic stocks... Sadly, since I've come to england and found every "corner dairy" and little shop stocking "swordfish steaks" for 10 quid etc, it's obvious why various nations (all of them) don't even try to do something about it.
A once extremely bountiful ocean is now near desert world wide, and we are not much of an exception sadly.
My old man has been campaigning for fishing changes all his later life and has had some wins here and there, but overall, it's not enough.
