I am keeping the Elky since it was my grandfathers. Ok heres the story:

My grandfather had an 79 El Camino that he fully restored. So my dad gets a 80 El Camino also. Drove it for quite a long time. When I turned 16 we still had the Elky, a Van, and a Taurus. I found a Civic HB and bout it. Guy lied and it was a POS about to quit. So under the law we had 30 days and we got our money back. Then I said screw it I'll take the Elky.

Now while this is going on my grandfather was having his motor taken out. He had a vette engine in his. It used to much gas so he went to GM and bought a brand new crate engine. Since he had no need for the engine he gave it to us. Ours had the 6cyl in it. So we got the vette engine in. Well with it being a 80 model it needed restoring. So a guy we knew painted it for me. I had it back a few months and I was going to the car wash. There was a socket set in the back and when I took a turn it come open, naturally I turn around to see what it was. It had rained and when my tire went off the shoulder I went down into a 10ft ditch. No damage was done. Tow truck comes and rips the whole side up and a tree.... end of that

Well my grandfather passed away a little after this. Instead of giving the car to my Dad his step mom sold it to her son in laws brothers kid. Well his stupid wife backs it into something and puts a huge dent in the tailgate. Well my dad then passed away. I notice the car at a local title loan place. I turn 21 and my mom goes down and gets the car for me for my birthday.

Whoever had it took the full flowmaster exhaust system off. Put two glass packs, wired up with coat hangers, and open under the the car (right under the seats). The motor is smoking and leaking. The door panel trim is ripped off. And there is rust spots. Keep in mind this was a fully restored car previously.

So now that I got it this car is not going anywhere. Our local community college teaches auto body classes. So instead of paying to have it painted I will probably pay for the class and paint it my self later on. Right now I'm going to just stop the rust ( not really bad, just some surface rust). After college when I get enough money saved up I am going to pull to engine and do a rebuild. Forged internals of course. Since it's carbed I will probably build it for high comression and nitrous.

Anyways, thats the story. Sorry for it being so long. I guess some people didn't understand why I even wanted the Elky.
