Well....I failed

yesterday I went to get my state inspection done to my car and it failed emissions really bad. I failed for HC (hydrocarbons). State regulations max. 220ppm HC and my car put out 1950ppm. That's pretty bad. Have any of you guys experience this one your turbo cars? I know HC is unburnt fuel going into the exhaust. I'm running a cat. converter. I'm going to check my compression to see if my rings or ringlands are shot.

Sorry, no pictures.

I have a friend that might be certified to do state inspections. I'll ask him if he can hook me up with one. I've been told that if the registry finds out, the inspector will be charged $100,000. Oh well.

BTW, I'm running 7lbs IHI with 315 injectors, Hacked, and the PCV vented into a canister. I've tried lowering the AFC settings but it didn't help at all.

I vote to go bootleg. You can convince someone to do it for ya.

Re:Well....I failed

or just put a presurised line cfoming from the turbo into your exhaust like the rx7's have. helps reduce emissions allotby mixing with regular air.

try it out. its better than simply paying someone or adding a shitload of cats.

Sorry, no pictures.

What is your timing set at?
If it's way retarded (to prevent pinging) then maybe you'll have to advance it some bit because you have it too retarded and all the fuel isn't getting burned.
Just an outside idea.

I dont know what state you're from but something friends do over here in NY is either find a place that'll pass it illegally for a few extra bucks or you can scan/print/paste a valid id on our windows. Just another idea.

My base timing is set @ 10 degrees BTDC. That's what the factory calls for. I'm pretty sure by lowering your AFC settings, you actually advance timing.

I did a compression test and it's 150psi across. That's borderline. Factory specs are 190-140 psi. Me tinks my engine is fucked.
