Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
I really don't know if this has been mentioned before but I think that there should be a welding section on this forum. There are a lot of DIY-ers out there (myself included) and a lot of us could benefit from the experience of others. What do you guys think?

Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
I think it would be a good idea, especially if you were allowed to upload pics.

Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
i mentioned to jeff before that a fabrication section would be cool
Beau |
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
that would be a good idea since no section really lends itself to it too much. hybrid/tech is the closest to it and I think fabrication forum would be cool. and I just got a welder so I could participate!
|
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
as always, i'd be willing to give advice and opinions.
on a completely different note, my roomate just scammed 5 welders from work!! one is even a buzzbox! haha, i can't wait until he moves his pos truck out of the garage so we can actually use them. |
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
5 welders? Man, I only have 2 hands!
I think a fabrication section would be better so it gets enough traffic to perpetuate interest and posts. Nobody wants a dead section that isn't read. Most fabrication involves welding too... -Michael |
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
yeah, fab it up beyotch
|
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
yeah, ditto, i have'nt even use my welder once :'( i'm actually a little intimidated, but i'm sure it just takes some practice or a fabrication forum ;D.
|
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
yeah, a little knowledge and a lot of practice goes a long way!
|
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
Basic welding is really easy, especially MIG. I learned everything at my shop. I had no theoretical knowledge. I was used to seeing it done and I tried it. Now I have 3 Millermatic 250, a 251, (2) 130's and a Lincoln Power Mig 300. (Of course we weld all day)
|
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
that's just it, i have no one to teach me. if i knew someone that welded, i could get a quick "crash course" and take it from there, but it looks like i'm on my own, or i could sign up for a course at the community college, i prolly will.

Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
I agree, fab or welding section would definatly be a plus. Just remember that more newbies might burn there eyes off because they only read 'recommended welder' and not the 'important eye protection'... :-)
I'll all for it, screw newbies. j/j Nick |
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
It will be taken into consideration...
Anyone else have any input on this? |
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
I might be interested in doing up some quick instructional videos but someone would need to host them.
-Michael |
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
Hosting pictures and info pertaining to this stuff is not a big deal.. we can host everything. :)
|
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
if you want i'll scan all my first year notes/books
|
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
I can braze real good. I went to school to be an airplane mechanic. But it got to expensive so I am go to a place cheaper. If you want to know anything a bout that I would be glad to tell you how. Brazing is good for your oil return lines on your oil pan. At least the bung.

Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
i feel a fabrication forum would be an asset to the site
|
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
Fiberglass is your friend. ;) And don't forget the bondo and kitty hair.
|
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
im about to go nuts here with my new welder. fab forum would be cool
|
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
First of all, I think a fabrication forum would be a great addition to the site. There really isn't such a thing on the internet that pertains to car fabrication.
On another note, I am well trained in Fiberglass/Carbon Fiber/Composite type fabrication. I trained under Terry Price (a huge guy in the industry). anyway, I could help out with that aspect of things in a fabrication forum. Just trying to do my part. |
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
It looks to me like there is a good store of knowledge to glean from, now we just need a place to put it ;)
|
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
Yeah I would like to see a fabrication section, I'm familiar with Carbon and Kevlar(TM) and have done some welding and would love to hear some others people experiences.
:) Fabricating is fun! http://www.silverninja.net/~naz/supsmalltopcrx.jpg |
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
This would be AWESOME! I would absolutely love to see some instructional vids and notes from your class! Because I threw all of mine away and forgot a lot of ----, haha. I put in my vote!
|
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
i think a fab section would be sick..... i say yes to it.
|
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
I'm all for a fab section, that would be awesome...
|
Re:Welding Section.....................(.Moderators take note)
With all that said, let's get the ball rolling!!
