Welding Alum.

I have a Lncoln Electric (sp-?? series) welder, Whats needed to weld aluminum piping. Is gas needed?, or can I just use the welder at a low temp???

Ive welded steel, but I hear stories wih aluminum. Dont feel like going through my stock of mandrel bends just to find out.

brazing is probably easier. or with the mig use aluminum wire and 100% argon gas

I dont think you can braze aluminum.Tig is the best.

Its pretty hard to weld aluminum with a mig.The correct way to do it is to get a mig torch specially made for welding aluminum. It has a wire feeder just behind the torch. This will keep it from kinking in the line and bunching up.That gun is hella expensive though.

Some people do it by changing the liner in the feeder hose to a teflon one, grinding down the tip on the gun and teh guide and being really, really carefull. It seems like too much trouble for me though :-\

Who say you can't braze aluminum?? I do it all the time, I use the stuff call alumite rod and using a propane torch. It looks ghetto but it works and it's strong too.
You can definitely braze aluminum... ;D

But if you want the bling bling look, go with a TIG. :P
Or Using a Spool Gun for aluminum. Converting a MIG to weld aluminum isn't really worth it.

Dude, in no way are you ready to weld aluminum. Look at your post... what the ---- is going on with it?

You provide no information, no experience - hell I don't even see where u have attempted to research this one out.

I don't mean to be a dick but come on, I'm not going to answer your welding dreams with that kinda question at hand. Go look around the lincoln website, they have every resource you will most likely need to figure this one out. When you are a bit more seasoned then come back and ask us, I would be happy to show you what to do.. just not without you putting forth a little effort yourself :)
