Welder at Harbor Frieght?

I know most of you use a Miller or Lincoln Mig welder or Tigs. I'm trying to get into fab'ing my own stuff because I'm sick of visiting the damn muffler shop.

I'm trying to find out a nice mig welder to start out with. I was looking at Harbor Freight online and found some but was wondering what some of you thought about them? I've heard good things about Miller and Lincoln welders in particulr but havent seen much feedback for the ones from Harbor Freight. I believe they are by Chicago Electric Welding.

Also, for those of you who own Miller or Lincoln, whats a good price for a starter welder? I'm just looking for something to weld downpipes and small jobs. I'm not fabricating a building.

Thanks in advance guys.

I have a Lincoln Mig welder and its awsome for small stuff like turbo kits. $400 should get you a decent welder, mabey look in local ad's for a used Miller or Lincoln welder to save some cash.

sorry no usefull info on the "Harbor Freight" welders

if it's a gas mig welder it should work good on everything from cast iron to exhaust tubbing. the gasless ones suck compared to the gas ones. they got good prices at HF

Yea I know the gases one are better than the non-gas ones but Im just not sure exactly which one and how much I should be expecting to spend. Any experience with the harbor freight ones?

Any good sites for the miller and lincoln gas mig welders?

I just picked up the arc-140 at HF for $79.99. It does 110/220 and goes 30-140 amps. I think that was a mistake though. The arc-120 is the one I was supposed to get for that price, but I'm not complaining. I haven't had time to use it yet, but I'll let you know how it fares when I do.

PM me or post your review on this thread. I'd be interested in knowing what you think. Also do you have the link to the one you bought?
