Weighed my car today, what a pig!

ok, i weighed my car today. It came out as 2380, and i guess you could call that my daily driving weight. I went into a truck weigh station, lol. where do you guys weigh your cars at because the guy weighed it and then told me to take my street racing punk ass elsewhere, lol. I didn't even rev or do anything stupid, just got on the scales. maybe he's mad cuz he drives a stang??? lol

btw what are the heaviest things on a crx that can be taken off besides a/c?

LOL you went to a truck weight station? Thats's funny. I've never weighed my car never even thought of it. I'll have to do that sometime. Oh interior, dash, heater core, seats, front bumper gaurd and rear bumper gaurd, seat belts, power window motors, tow hooks, anything that you can take off that you don't need. I remember any old quote from if your a real street racer "When something falls off your car you wounder how much you weight fell off."

Re:Weighed my car today, what a pig!

2380 with you in it? I can estimate you at around 170 - that's an average weight right? so that sets the car at 2210. A full tank of gas (listed as 10.5 gallon tank) could weigh up to 95 lbs. If you have power steering that adds weight, so ditch the AC and loop the power steering lines. Ditch the Spare and jack, and things will start to be lighter... Rust does half the work for me up here in MN. Everyone says, why don't you get a clean chassis and swap your parts over... I just say, this is way lighter, so why?

if any of you are in farming areas, most grain elevators have weight scales. the one near me is automatic so u can just hop on there late at night and check your weight

yea it was at a truck weigh station off of the highway :o, lol. Yes its a 89 Crx si and i weigh more than 170, i'm about 205-215, i'm a fat mofo. and thats with a half tank of gas and a spare and all so i can see when i go to the track losing about 200-250 lbs, maybe?

Re:Weighed my car today, what a pig!

there is a stone quarry near me, i know they have a place to weigh trucks, someone could probably use the scale there. i would try it but im afraid....damn dsms....probably like 3300 :'(

jung4g 11-13-2003 02:43 PM

Re:Weighed my car today, what a pig!

205-215 ::) I've got that beat. My lower range is about 215, up to 230 when I lift enough (not weights, usually engines and wheels and crap). I wouldn't run less than a half tank at the track, I keep it full on the road race (better distribution and no starvation.)

If you drop a seat, the spare, and other randomns you don't need you could probably lose 100lbs. Losing 200-250 would take removal of bumper supports, a fuel cell, race battery, helium filled tires ;), get a race seat and you'll loose a few more lbs, plus they are awesome to drive in. Just don't loose enough to drop into the 11s, then'll you need a cage which just adds weight again... I run a cage anyway. Cage = rigid chassis ;D

im 5'11 and weight 255. but of solid mass. my 1/4 times suffer because of it :'(

Re:Weighed my car today, what a pig!

us big guys suffer. But I still have fun with the fact that my sparco is basically mounted to the floor, and I can still see fine. But from the side, you can pretty much only see my head, which looks funny as hell, and then I get out and people get all confused...

Your not really gaining annything by removing little things here or there.Gut the whole thing out if you want to drop
1-10th of a second :P

Re:Weighed my car today, what a pig!

the engine/tranny is the heaviest thing in tha car, take that out!!

unless you want a full track car, your not gonna feel much diffrence by removing the lil stuff.

its just gonna make your hear more road noise which in turn is gonna make you think your going faster.

ZexRex 11-15-2003 03:09 PM

Re:Weighed my car today, what a pig!

as far as little stuff that makes a difference theres: ac/seats/spare/bumper cores then you can get all that fiberglass ---- like hatch/doors/front clip/sunroof, and lexan windows drop around 50lbs.

but if its a street car i would only do ac/spare/seats.. my friend took his bumper supports out when he put his ww bodykit on, but if he ever gets in a wreck its gonna suck.

Re:Weighed my car today, what a pig!

Be happy because Jbodies are heavy. My car is probably a lil more than 3000lbs with me in it I bet :(

Possibly less from my fiberglass parts but i keep tools in the back so...yeah
