Here is my problem with gun control........
Liberal hippie freaks want to ban us U.S.A. citizens from having them, and when the stinky hippies start with that, it will be just a mater of time before they put somthing else up for tighter control, like steak knives, and forks, matches, gasoline, and before we know it we will be a Communist country. Not saying that they should have any looser laws about guns, but definatly dont take them from us. Its kinda hard to shoot and hit your taget when you hold your gun sideways. I think that all people should have guns, Just be a better shot than them. Practice, just like driving. Teach it in school, and dont make guns out to be a wepon they are tools, just like a ratchet. The media hypes everything up and it makes guns look bad.

Here is my example......
I didnt live in the best area, White Center (NOT SO CENTERED AND NOT SO WHITE!!!) A town south of Seattle

One night at at about 2:00am Some guy tried to break into our house, We told him that we were gona call the cops, did it stop him? NO!! He continued to try and Kick in our front door, So we called the 911, they said that they woould be right there......... After about 2 min. of him trying to break in he gave up and ran off, The cops showed up 2 HOURES later

us: WTF WHERE WERE U GUYS?
cop: we were busy.....
us: What would we do if he had a gun and started shooting at us?
cop: Shoot back
us: We dont have a gun
cop: GET ONE!!!
us: O.K.!!!!!!

Now I have a collection of guns..... 20+ My favorite piece of Identification is my concealed wepons permit.

This Korean guy actually walked into a gun store, bought the guns on the counter and killed that many people, yet none of you see where the problem is at? Yet you will be saying how he could have bought the guns through someone else, but is it going to be as easy? Parents ARE the ones to blame but it might not have happen as OFTEN as it is.

I am not saying once fire arms are under heavier control then gun flow will be zero and no one will be dieing from getting shot at. I came from Hong Kong where the gun system is pretty much like UK, there are still gun flows in gangs and people still rob with guns, but the chance are far less likely and there are far less crime involve fire arms. Yes, those who REALLY wanted to commit a crime will and can eventually get their hands on guns but it will not be as easy as it is now.
I agree that no law can be kept to an absolute but it could at least minimize the chance of fatal shootings. Australia and a few other country use to allow as much guns as the US does but after a similar shooting incident, they actually ban gun usage among public and crime rate involving guns has been keep on dropping ever since.

you have a good idea but thats not going to change the fact that criminals will get there hands on a gun somewhere....to be its just like drugs..the US spends millions of dollers, hundreds of people on trying to stop the drug trade....but you can still get druge about anytime that you want too...i can call right now and have a Qp by 5:00...putting strictur laws only effects the law obeying people......i can see how it can effect aust b/c they are isolated by ocean....the US you can traffic through mexico, canada, cuba, ect.....

I like peoples defense of "Well they are going to get around it anyway, so why bother?"

So, do you guys lock your car at night? Do you have an alarm? Do you lock your doors to your home? Do you wear a condom when ------- a **** you pick up at the bar? Do you run a firewall on your computer? Everyday people take preventative measures to increase their safety. Gun control is simply attempting to do the same thing. It is not to keep guns away from people who will do the right thing with them, its an attempt to keep guns out of those who do not deserve them. It will never be full proof or perfect, but its an attempt. Overtime gun control has proven itself to reduce gun crimes. Its a system that works on some level. Why you guys need a gun immediately and can't wait 20 days is beyond me.

the defense of criminals are going to get around it, is true. because a criminal, will get around it and get whatever they want to do what they want. they dont have any restrictions like the law because, they're ------- criminals. background checks aren't deep enough in my opinion but ---- it, let this country become a god damned dictatorship like the liberals want it to be.

Guns have been sold over the counter for years and this is one of the few isolated instances where someone has used the gun that they bought legally to mass murder people. There is no telling what people are capable of. That guy passed an FBI background check in order to recieve the guns after he payed for them. He was clean so he got them. Now this guy had also planned to and buildt bombs. He was going to kill people no matter what. Hell, I'm pretty shure if he had walked in there with two machetes or Japanese swords he would of killed allmost as many people. People are fucked and there is no doubt about that. But you cant spend your life in fear.

I agree that parents need to step up and play their role as responsable parents. That is one of the reasons our kids are a bucnh of mindless slackers.

But still I rather die with a gun in my hand than with **** in my pants.

You can't make guns disappear, they'll ALWAYS be around.

Making them illegal won't do ----, they'll still be around.

Should just stay the way it is.

People WITH guns are citizens

People WITHOUT guns are subjects

the writers of the us constitution knew this, that is why the second amendment exists.

england has a complete ban on all firearms, how well is that working for them?

I didn't even read this thread, but if any of you think gun control will stop things like this from happening you are complete ------- morons. Example... Have any of you seen the movie Demolition Man? That's exactly the kind of ---- that would happen. They didn't have guns, but yet somebody still found a way to get guns and kill people. Things like this will always happen no matter what, there's nothing we can do to stop it. The only thing we can do is find a way to pretect everybody when it does happen. Oh and this VA tech school shooting? It could have easily been stopped if they had armed security guards or if one person other than the shooter had a gun, but since it was a "gun free" zone he had free reign to mass murder all the people he wanted, and he did... I hope all you gun control -----'s ------- die, you stupid mother ******* don't have a clue. The only thing gun free zones and gun control every does is make places more dangerous for normal americans and helps all the criminals, because they don't give a ---- about the law.

Britain has a ban on all guns bar those used for either sport or vermin control.

This ban includes handguns, which are only ever used to kill other people. Since the ban, there has been an increase in gun related crime. However, there is still significantly less then you get within the US. The only major gun crime is drug dealers shooting at other drug dealers and taking out a few bystanders once in a while.

Its incredibly rare and i feel safe walking the streets without carrying a weapon. Our police force don't carry guns.

fwiw, the skinny geeky kids who perpetrate these spree killings would never stand a chance if they were to try and source a gun illegally. They just wouldn't know the right people. And i doubt any bomb would kill as many people as one idiot armed to the teeth can take out.

yea but how big is Great Britain? thats like comparing tx with the rest of the US, of course they are going to have less gun violence b/c they have a smaller population....
also its easier to keep out stuff b/c they are on a island unlike the US..the US is just too big to stop the black market....
