i was driving down the road today and i hear a unusual noise and i pull over and the ------ gear on the water pump flew off. the timing belt is still in tact and is tight but i have a huge hole in the timing belt cover where the gear came threw. the motor is a d16z6 and im hoping the belt didnt jump any teeth so the valves didnt hit the pistons. i just got it finished after putting arps and a new head gasket in it and a skunk 2 adj. cam gear last week. to say the least im pissed.

The words you have used to make this statement do not fit together in that order with any logic whatsoever. If your water pump drive gear flew off and managed to machine its way through your timing cover, I promise you that your timing belt isn't tight anymore.

i know it does not make sense but the timing belt is still tight. i try to pull on it and its tight. the belt is on the pin sticking out that the gear or sprocket is usually on. idk how but its tight it wont slide or anything.

Maybe it wrapped around the crank gear a whole lot of times. Take the ****** apart. Even if you have no idea what you are doing, you can't possibly make it any worse. Then, change everything. Like that little ------- idler bearing. And the water pump and timing belt. Inspect the other gears and make sure they didn't get fuggered, but they are burly so not likely. I have a feeling you either bent valves or you didn't so be ready to get a new head if the compression is shitty!

PS- if you are thinking -----> why bother put all this ------- ---- on my busted *** motor if it might be fucked up bad?? WTF Just remember that you can put it all on your next D16Z6 before you install it if this motor has been eliminated.

fixed my car today new water pump and timing belt and the old belt held strong and the valves didnt hit so im good to go.
