Water Injection
Hey.... has anyone had any success intalling, fabricating, or using this type of setup on your engine??? besides lowering the combustion chamber temperature to prevent premature detonation.... is it true that it cleans your combustion chamber??? if anyone has ever tried this let me know what type of setup you had... and how well it worked... and would you recomend it based on your findings
Thanks... |
Re:Water Injection
Ive built a few systems for my cars and friends cars. I personnaly think they're awesome to have. I run windshield washer fluid not water. I use ww fluid because: it wont freeze, its about 40% alcohol, has anti corrosive agents. I installed a system on a new engine and ran it about 60,000 miles, I decided I wanted a better cam, when i tore down the engine there was no sign of carbon in the combustion chamber, on the spark plugs or on the valves and seats.

Re:Water Injection
wow.... so it is true then,,,,, i thought my neighbor was just shitn me...
|
Re:Water Injection
wouldnt that make the motor hydrostacicaly freze?(bad speller) at school i am rebuilding a 2.4 that got water in the motor and froze a piston and broke a rod...
i think ur freind is messing with u i wouldnt do it..or u will be building a new motor...lol |
Re:Water Injection
I got the Aquamist 2S in my 93 MR2 Turbo with an upgraded turbo; GT25R. The nozzle is 6" from the throttle body and spray a fine mist of 50/50 mixture of distilled water and methanol. The methanol is use to prevent the water from freezing and it also boost the octane of the gasoline. WIth this setup the car is insanely fast at 20 psi of boost on a stock motor. The intake manifold is warm to the touch.

Re:Water Injection
hydrolocked engines and a small amount of fine water mist are VERY different things..
this stuff is very good, i will be using it on my 5 gt turbo when its back out of hibernation/restoration there is a 5 gt turbo in the uk that was detonating at 23psi, with water injection the boost is now at 30psi with no signs of detonation (another similar specced 5 turbo made 292 bhp @ wheels .. not bad for a pushrod 1400cc shopping car) |
Re:Water Injection
does water injection do anything to horsepower?
|
Re:Water Injection
Correct me if im wrong but i think water injection reduces hp but the benefit from it is that you can run more boost or wilder crap which in turn results in more hp at the end? ;D
|
Re:Water Injection
it cools the charge, supressing detonation thus allowing you to run more ign advance/boost
so indirectly it does, but not by its self |
Re:Water Injection
i've been looking for a water injection setup, does anyone know of a company that sells them
|
Re:Water Injection
Jackson Racing has a water injection kit, only run this if you're running very high compression or forced induction.
|
Re:Water Injection
anyone here use it? (besides Steve Hung and gasser)
why isnt it more popular? |
Re:Water Injection
Larry Widmer (among others) say that some carbon crystals in the chamber is essential to making power...
I know a guy with an 11 second 180SX who has been running H20 since he got his T04S... he can't believe how great it works. I want to make a system for my engine but i want to retain some carbon in the chamber... so i wonder if I do run water, will it destroy ALL the carbon? |
Re:Water Injection
Aquamist pretty much has a monopoly on water/alcohol injection system. It is not cheap. I paid $700 for System 2S and have to shell out another $175 for a 2 gallon Jaz cell. The water vapor does steam clean the combustion chamber. That is what I have been told. I will know better when I rebuild the motor if it ever blow up.
I believe water injection system has been use very successfully by Rally racing team on a WRX. This link should provide alot more information on water injection. http://www.turbomirage.com/water2.html |
Re:Water Injection
great link!! thanks ;D

Re:Water Injection
has anyone thought about using propane injection, its suppost to be the ---- for turbos.
it cools the engine and creates massive hp and almost eliminates detonation. if anyones interested i can post links to sites that sell kits. |
Re:Water Injection
wow...propane??? never heard of that beeing used to supliment HP.... why doesnt someone just pour liquid oxygen into their ----....
|
Re:Water Injection
ive heard of propane being used in diesel engines, but ive never seen it used in gasoline
|
Re:Water Injection
for diesl engines propane is their nitros oxide system
|
Re:Water Injection
No, I'm pretty sure that's false, badboy. You may be right but i really doubt it. I'm really tired right now but tomorrow i'll get to the heart of this issue. :P
|
Re:Water Injection
Propane is used for deisels just as nitrous is used for gas engines. Water injection would steam clean the engine. If you have ever pulled the head off an engine that blew a headgasket you can tell which cylinder had a coolant leak because one of the combustion chamers in the head will be squeeky clean like raw aluminum. the water meth injection is an awesome idea. I might just rig something up when I do my turbo project
|
Re:Water Injection
You guys watch on "crank and chrome" on TNN? or TBS? whatever, they had a Diesal dulley and they put propane injection on it, and it gained like 125hp.. heh

Re:Water Injection
H2O inj. sounds awesome..
Is is practical though for a daily driven car? -Henry |
Re:Water Injection
yeah its practiacal but you have to remember that if you tune your car to run with the water spray to check the fluid level a couple times a week otherwise you might find yourself pinging
|
Re:Water Injection
you're right! propane is like nitrous on a diesel...but you can still run nitrous on a diesel if you want.
|
Re:Water Injection
ok well i'm gonna start building my water injection system next week, so what exactly do i need to use for a pump? how srtong is the pump supposed to me? also could someone explain in drtail how to build one of these, i mean i know the basics but i dont want to mess things up.
