Re: VW scirocco project!!!! need some ideas / help

you think an 86 scirocco has a ztec???

kamilk69 11-05-2006 09:17 PM

Re: VW scirocco project!!!! need some ideas / help

well the zetec has been around for ages and i thought the corrodo used a version of it, so i assumed the siccoro used a version of the 1.8 zetec

Re: VW scirocco project!!!! need some ideas / help

wtf does vw have to do with zetec. Unless you mean 8v counterflow 1.8 liter mechanical fuel injected engine, then yeah, it's zetec.

corrado = g60 = counterflow with a supercharger.

-thanks

$300 for MS would be a hell of a lot cheaper than replacing an engine because you useed a shitty ass FMU.

Just my $0.02 >:D

Re: VW scirocco project!!!! need some ideas / help

yes i realize this, but this is just a "project" that takes up space in his garage so if it blows up who gives a ----! lol

Just grab some fence post and your flux core welder and make it happen.

i dont think an FMU will work on a CIS inj system.

and rawr is right, before you make it around the block the trans will ---- itself.

---- 16v's , best thing to do with a rabbit is to sell it to some nerd who likes VW's and go buy a stripper with the money.

Re: VW scirocco project!!!! need some ideas / help

You cant use an FMU on it. The stock CIS system (if running up to spec) is good for ~170 hp. With parts picked from turbo Audis/Volvos you can get support to 220. You will need a different fuel distributor, vaccum retard canister, and warmup regulator (amongst the normal ex mani, bov, intercooler, piping, etc)... I dont remember exactly what is from what but its all on vwvortex.com (beware of the BBS rims) and it can all be had relatively cheap. I owned an 87 Jetta. I was going to turbo it. I only owned it for a month. Id find a better platform to work on even if its a junker. Good luck with the wiring and the best shift linkage ever designed.

Re: VW scirocco project!!!! need some ideas / help

if you wanna stay VW at least get a digi or motronic car. CIS just makes everything difficult

Yup, just retard the dizzy a few degrees and you're about as cheap as it gets.

Not on the HMT level... this thing is gonna ---- the trans pretty quick, no sense in wasting money on a newer VW that will require a more expensive tuning solution to ---- a tranmission.

older corrados have vr6 180 hp

Re: VW scirocco project!!!! need some ideas / help

digi would probably be your only chance and it aint gonna be cheap for parts or tuning....and you still have that hole tranny thing

Re: VW scirocco project!!!! need some ideas / help

i think what everyone is saying is: sell the car and forget you ever had it. buy a rusty ef and boost it

cll77gen2teg 11-08-2006 11:54 AM

Re: VW scirocco project!!!! need some ideas / help

if you want to boost something this^ is a good idea, if you want to keep the scirocco you could throw a built 16v with a 16v tranny and have fun!! although you will have to get the digifant setup as well, so you're looking at a lot of money right there!! how about throwin a vr6 or 1.8t in there, then at least you would get your moneys worth....but then you're back to the whole thing that vw's are crap and it will probably fall apart shortly, leak profusely, and still be worth nothing at all

I am not. It's his friend's car, I think his friend needs to boost it, and he gets some props for helping with the work and some fab time under his belt.

If it were his car, OTOH, I'd look out for a HMTer and tell him to sell it asap.
