vtec 1.5 blow up/tear down/rebuild/install/break-in weekend.
Well you guys know what happened to my #4 piston in my d15b
http://tullostechdownloads.hypermart...lted-small.JPG caused my my turbo blowing oil into my motor. I bought some TT rods and virtara pistons while back which I had on a 1.6, but the 1.5 was in such great shape that I tore down the 1.6 and took the internals for the 1.5. I dont know what kinda static compression I'm getting, but I'm guessing its altleast 9.1:1 I had to buy a damn electrinc impact wrench, but it does work good. http://tullostechdownloads.hypermart...pact-small.JPG I went ahead and replaced the timing belt, bearings well 3 of them. http://tullostechdownloads.hypermart...elts-small.JPG I rebuilt the motor in less than a day so I did cut alot of corners so my isnt block ane engine bay didnt get cleaned from the blow out. http://tullostechdownloads.hypermart...lock-small.JPG the sad part is, I get can a motor together in a day, but I cant rebuild a turbo nor find a replacement in a day.. so I had to go back to NA http://tullostechdownloads.hypermart...ucks-small.JPG I've put about 5 miles on the motor and I'm breaking the way that was posted. Basically my motor wants to end its life. I'll post some more pics later. BTW a 1.5 NA blows in a teg.. I got to get my a new turbo ASAP! |

break it in, feed it 25 psi and hang on!

Good work, Sinner, stand on the long pedal on the right everywhere you go. That way, the engine gets broken in poper, and you aren't smashed by any grandma's going half the speed limit when trying to pull into traffic. |

I have about 250-300 miles on the motor and here are the numbers
compression numbers. #1 = 170 #2 = 170 #3 = 171 #4 = 175 |

D15b vtec crack will take 1.6 rods, with vitra piston I think it give you a 9.1 CR.

PS, I just had a very positive experience with a Snap-On portable/cordless electric impact gun... the thing is pretty damn stout, it doesn't hammer quite like I'm used to a pneumatic gun doing so I underestimated it until I used it a bit. Good stuff. |

yeah it has to be close, my accord had 175psi and it was 9.3:1, the cylinders were pretty fresh in it

I need to boost the car, but Its finals week. I just finished one class today, but I still one more. It doesnt seem that I'll be teaching next quarter so I'll have more time for my car projects. The GT28rs turbo has a water inlet, I might sure if I'm going to use it. I could T off the bleader valve, but I dont know of a good drain place. I still have a small mysterious slow oil leak, but I'm not sure where its comming from. Its very slow, but I still want to find it. I think my next project is going to be a v8 so I can test my fuel management unit on it. It alot of people with the big v8s are purchasing my boost controller so I want to make sure my ems can be marketed to them. |

You really need to torque the flywheel (crank will distort, cause an oil leak from the rear main) and torque the pressure plate. They are just as vital as internal engine stuffs.
Bypass throttle body coolant feed for your turbo - feed and drain in one. |

All the calculators list the comp height on the vitara's as 28.0mm. I have measured it and it is 28.5mm. Also there is no exact info on the dish volume. Using the correct comp height with the 8cc dish yeilds a 9.6:1 comp ratio. Although I have seen the dish volume listed as near 12cc also. I have about 3000+ miles on my D15B with LS/Vitara's and the compression is 190 across. 2-3% leakdown. Although the bores were very clean when I rebuilt it. I didn't hone the walls at all. The original hone marks wre still present. |

flywheel bolts get same treatment as lug nuts, PP bolts get installed via air ratchet. |

Since I got sick of seeing rear mains die at 20K miles, the clutch deal might be a nonissue, but if you get them too loose (so they work free over time) then the clutch shows it's ass.
