well engine oil is heated by direct fuel ignition and friction from many bearings and such. Transmission oil tends not to be near any combustion processes and lubricates a couple of gear sets, but no fluid bearings or anything. I say engine oil gets hotter.

That IS the oil cooler on the Volvo.
The tranny cooler is located inside one of the end tanks of the radiator.

Really... I'll have to double check if I get time to drive the 30miles back to that yard. The lines looked like them went back to the tranny.

Of course I could have saved myself a lot of "wonder" by just looking at the damn radiator in it to see if it had the radiator/tranny cooler together.
I got a turbo off a different volvo and that volvo had a different cooler that was FOR SURE the tranny cooler ( without the turbo is was really easy to see the tranny lines).http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/max...&.dnm=bb6d.jpg
Damn turbo in the way... Damn turbo with very exsesive shaft play in the way.

Save your time. It is the oil cooler. I have spent some time with volvos at the junkyard plus my fried has a volvo 240 turbo.

It should work fine for you.
The Saab ones are a little smaller and will work fine as well.

Wow man, thanx for schooling me on that one !! That is the exsact same one !!

I guess I'm gonna have to make another trip to that junkyard and buy another $5 part and take $100 worth of stuff home in my box.

Last trip I got some misc. IMPORTANT bolts, O2 sensor, Si/HF Dizzy harnesses, few interoir parts, and a new TPS plug. Of course I paid for a $5 imblem off a toyota camery that said "Turbo-D" !!! Its pretty cool.
