Virtual Log

1 Attachment(s)
Made this while I should have been working.

Aaron, thanks for the D-series flange CAD file, you should hook me up with a T3 flange so I can finish this thing :)

In the time you spent messing with that, you could've already made your manifold ;)

The boss might have noticed me running a welder in the office.

www.t3flange.com has various flanges, measurements and cad files.

1 hour and 48 minutes is my best time for a log.

Wow, took me about that long to draw it this far.

I live in Alaska, it would be very difficult for me to have a red neck :-*

Re: Virtual Log

no it isnt. isnt it easier to get a sunburn from the glare off of the ice? and if you boss catches you welding in the office just weld his nuts to a table and throw it out a window. where in alaska do you live? my ex (im still really good friends with her) lives in ft. wainwright i think.

I keep my neck covered while outside.

I'm in North Pole which is next to Ft. Wainwright.

Maybe a little, but I'm pretty far inland, so it's probably the same as the pacific NW.

Well, I haven't done much 3D CAD work, so it was kind of a "I wonder how hard it would be" plus:

I was also thinking about those prototyping places that can turn cad files into molds for casting. I wonder if there's a market for cast logs and if it would even be any cheaper to cast them. Hmmm...

HMTguy 11-06-2007 12:38 AM

Re: Virtual Log

Making a cast log doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you can just make a cast manifold design like the ones currently available. If you're going to use pipe and flanges and weld it together to make a log that's one thing, if you're going to make a cast manifold a log shape with thin walls isn't ideal for strength.

Re: Virtual Log

Cast ramhorn? ;D :1

What I'd really like is a CAD drawing of a complete turbo, not just the flanges. Maybe that'll be my next project. Anybody wanna loan me their snail? :y

Re: Virtual Log

That would be sweet. You might be able to find some parts of the assembly online and make the rest.

It's best to just monkey around with it until you can make it work. That's how I learned.

Re: Virtual Log

Redneck, in modern usage, predominantly refers to a particular stereotype of white people who may be found in many regions of the United States. Originally limited to the Appalachians, and later the Ozarks and Rocky Mountains, this stereotype is now wide------ in northern states. The word can be used either as a pejorative or as a matter of pride. The blunt definition of the stereotype describes one who lives in a rural American area, is poor, and sometimes would own a pickup truck and would have an apparel of a cowboy and a southern accent
