That's pretty cool, how does the wires in the VAFC compare to that of the 6 wires in the RJ-45? And you know you should have used Cat 6E

there is no battery in there, its uses EPROM (sp) just like your chipped ecu does. its saved in its "memory" until you re initialize it.

nice job, a write up would be nice.

Isn't there already a plug like that on the vafc harness? Mine came with one...

This officially makes you a network nerd. Wardriving and tunning at once

I decided that a starter killswitch, fuelpump killswitch, and this mod would suffice.
It is like a secret puzzle to start your car. Insert the VAFC, flip a half dozen hidden switches. I guess it keeps you from driving if you are too drunk, the rest of us just have an ignition to figure out if we are drunk.

nice job man, I like that. hmmm... I pulled out my ecu before and the car still got stolen, maybe it's time to make some new plugs that only my harness can plug into.

yeah, it does come with one. but i dont really like it. it doesnt "slide" very well. you know, when clipping together it doesn't clip smoothly like the cat5-->rj45. at least mine doesn't. when i try and unclip it, it feels really hard to pull and i feel like i am going to rip the wires. that, and also the fact that you cant mount the clip that came with the vafc like you can the rj45 jacks. i guess ill take more pictures so that you can see what i am talking about, and i will include them in the writup.

oh yeah, rj45 connectors use 8 wires(wo/o/wg/b/wb/g/wbr/br). the vafc wiring, and normal cat5 wiring for that matter, do not even compare to cat6. cat6 wiring, although the same thickness as cat5 is HARD AS ----- at least when you are untwisting it to make a cable or terminate onto a punchdown block. it also takes both of my hands to crimp that ----(i dont have those bout it *** ratcheting crimpers). cat6 is some hardcore ----.

Thats cool but new ones usually come with a quick connect
.

I used to do that with my Field. It had a quick connect right behind the unit. The car wont run without it.As soon as the car is turned on and it cant read the MAP sensor it will shut off.

The VAFC will not loose the setting because the way it works is that the setting are pushed in/out electronicaly. That means that it uses power to change the settings. It doesnt have a battery inside :P.Just a memory.
