vacation... Disneyland, santa monica pier, medieval times?

I was looking for feedback specifically on medieval times and the santa monica pier. Anyone ever been? Wife wants to go to disneyland, so that's pretty much set in stone. If these are not good choices, reccomend somewhere else to go instead if you can. Pretty much limit it to 1 hour from the disneyland area(anaheim). The trip will be mid january.

Thanks guys.

Been to them all. For beach choices I recommend hermosa beach or redendo beach. Also the wild animal park in north county diego is kinda cool and cheap.

Medieval times was pretty good despite what Chris said. Dont go in there looking for someones head to roll and you should be fine with the PG-13 action.

if you gonna be here for a few days, just hit up all of them. it ain't gonna harm none.

Santa Monica pier is pretty nice, it does stink, but there's lots to do and you could always cruise up and down the beach or whatnots [yeas there are prettier beachs, but whatever]. Never been to midevil times, but you are married so I'm sure you guys would enjoy it as a couple [being a couple automatically makes you like slightly lamer things, lol].

Knott's isn't too far. Not overly exciting, but it's fairly cheap for a day of fun and there's a pickapart 3 blocks away, lol. Ripley's believe it or not is also right down the street.

I guess you guys might as well hit up venice beach too.

You could always plan a bonfire down at Corona Del Mar... has fire pits, beautiful view if you climb some rocks to see part of the bay/balboa peninsula. There's always SIX FLAGS MAGIC MOUNTAIN, depending on the day/time, it will be within an hour's reach.

You could score some jam at knott's, and get your flume on :P

You can do all this in a day. Hit up Venice beach early morning(the weirdos come out after 5PM, trust me :X) Go north a bit but dont go to the Santa Monica Pier, instead go to the Santa Monica Promanade(just two blocks north of the pier). Then take a trip east and go down Wilshire to Beverly Hills and hit Rodeo Drive. You dont even have to park. Just driving through there is cool. Then take a slight detour north and hit the Sunset Strip. While there catch lunch at "Carneys". Its a caboose and a rail car(you cant miss it!) that has been converted into a great burger joint. They have awsome burgers and chili fries. Then head east on sunset and take Cresent Heights south to Melrose. There you can pick up all kinds of off the wall clothes(specifically shirts and hoodies). When Youre done, take melrose east to La Brea. Head north and hit Hollywood Blvd(make a right). Lots to see there too. Hit up the Chineese theater and the Kodak Center. If you still have time, take Highland Blvd north and hit Universal Drive(right), there you will find the Universal City Walk(free just pay for parking). You have to get a Brattworst at Jodey Marones. They are awsome(and cheap too). They top their brats with grilled bell peppers and onions. And to top it all off you have to go to the Griffith Observatory at nite and see the view. You will be amazed!!

I love L.A. Seeing that I lived there for 19 years I know my way around.

Thank you all so much for the suggestions. Looks like midieval times is probably a go for dinner... I'll be looking at a lot of the other suggestions too. We'll be there for 3 nights. It's so funny that I live in southern california and know NOTHING about this whole area.

We've gone to 6-flags and their waterpark, last year was the zoo and a weekend cruise, which rocked, and this year we now have a reliable car to do some driving around. I'm now looking into the karting stuff too. She'd like that just as much as I would. Plus rsmachines has 100.00 alum radiators...

Btw, this is for our 2nd anniversary, so no pick-a-part's.

very true. The Promanade is pretty cool in the evening. Good food down there too.

Thats because you have 150 miles between you and SoCal. lol. You guys will have fun. Kari loves it down there. Disneyland sucks to me because of the CROWDS of ppl and having to fight with them to get on some lame ride. I perfer Knotts, or even the SD zoo.

After a while thought, I go balistic over the traffic and all ppl. Not a ppl person I guess.

I would skip medieval times just because it is crap for what you pay. There is a place down the street that used to be Wild Bills, but now they do a Pirate theme dinner like medieval times. Knotts Berry farm is right down the street from there too.
Universal City Walk is the way to go. They have an awesome piano bar down there too (not as gay as it sounds, I swear).
